Kathryn McClusky is an ErGer – a rare and highly prized individual in the supernatural world.

She has spent her life running and hiding, but circumstances have changed and the only way to protect her family is to hand herself over to the Vampire Lord of London to face slavery or death.

Lucian Neben runs his London court with a stern but fair hand, but political pressures are building from both the human and fey worlds, and taking possession of an ErGer would cement his position of power.

Kathryn is vulnerable and broken almost beyond repair, but she holds in her hands the one treasure Lucian desperately wants – the possibility of home and family.

Can he teach her to open herself up; to choose to life, and him, before reality forces him to take her freedom?

Excerpt

He calmly straddled her, and as he leant forward to take her mouth in a deep kiss, his long hair curtained them in a world of their own. His kisses were deep and addictive, a leisurely play on her senses, an instant aphrodisiac. He took his time to taste and feel every last corner of her mouth and only let up when both their lips were swollen and sensitive.

“That’s it. I want you to be only aware of me.” There was a wicked light in his eyes – wicked, aroused and full of gentle laughter, a combination more desirable than anything.

“First, I will narrow your world so that your busy little brain cannot take you away, and then I will play with you. The rules will be simple. I get to do whatever I want and you have to take it. If you tell me something I do not know and cannot find out any other way, something secret and intimate, then and only then will I give you relief.”

She did not understand what he meant but her confusion was quickly overtaken by alarm when he covered her eyes with a soft cloth. She did not like the limitation to her sight even though he had blindfolded her repeatedly over the last two weeks. It made her tense, and increased her awareness of both his touch and his taste. She felt his lips stroking over the cloth, gentling her into the darkness. She was surprised when his hands slipped under her shoulders and he made her upper body more comfortable – she had not noticed the discomfort from her muscles, but he had. He had noticed the increased tenseness and adjusted her body to avoid it. That realisation was terrifying and reassuring in equal measures.

She felt him get off the bed, though his hand remained a calming pressure on her skin at all times. A gentle pressure was laid over her torso, just under her breasts, and as it tightened her body was further immobilised by what she realised was a strap. A second strap followed the first just over her breasts. Both straps were tight but not painful, smooth lines of warming leather on her overheated skin.

“I am just making sure that you cannot move suddenly and risk hurting yourself.” His voice was an anchor in her world, a deep note of calm in her rising nervousness. It almost failed to stave off the waves of panic when he gently lifted her right leg and bent it to attach a thigh cuff to the side of the bed, leaving her exposed. She tried to struggle but he had ensured that her range of movement was already so limited that any resistance was ineffective at best. Quickly he attached a second cuff on her other thigh and tightened the ankle restraints, leaving her laid out on the bed, restrained and open, her legs parted and bent, entirely helpless and accessible to his touch.

“You have no idea how beautiful you are like this – splayed for my desire, unable to resist the pleasure I can give you.”

Author Bio

In “real” life, I am an academic with degrees in Political Science, Economics, Philosophy and Law and an insatiable desire to confound, baffle and disconcert my students. Someone once suggested to me the reason for my stories lay in the desire to offset the tedium and rationality of academic life. He wasn’t an academic or he would have known better. It is best to use research against tedium, students to offset the rationality and an unlimited supply of stressballs for the faculty meetings. The stories? Well, they are just for me – like a mental manicure.

I also write a blog on Feminism and Erotica – come talk to me:

Thirst Blood of my Blood ~ RP Channing

Book Title - Thirst Blood of my BloodThirst by R P Channing Cover240+ Pages
WITH BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHS

~ Kira Sutherland ~

After a near fatal accident (and getting cheated on by her ‘boyfriend’), and beating up the lead cheerleader (with whom the boyfriend cheated…), and being labeled as having ‘issues’ in her school because she, uhm, sees ghosts, Kira is left with two choices:

  1. Continue her ‘therapy’ (where she’s told the ghost is a hallucination and also gets her legs ogled too often…)

Or

  1. Go to Starkfield Academy, a boarding school for “Crazies and Convicts” (as the social media sites call them.)

She chooses the latter…

~ Cory Rand ~

Cory Rand has not had an easy life. His mother died in a car accident when he was twelve, and so did his mother’s best friend…sort of. You see, Janice made a promise to take care of Cory just before she died, and so she lingers. Undead. A ghost that watches out for him.

Brought up in an abusive home, Cory quickly falls into a life of disreputable behavior. After his third offense (which was prompted by a girl, as usual – he has a weakness) he’s left with two choices:

  1. Be tried as an adult and share a cell with a guy named Bubba (he thinks…)

Or

  1. Go to Starkfield Academy, which Cory is pretty sure is run by vampires. But, hey, at least he’ll get an education.

He chooses the latter…

It’s at Starkfield that Kira meets Cory Rand, a boy with an insatiable Rage who sees ghosts, too. As well as other things, other things from his past, things that confuse him, things like fire and witches and demons.

Things he’s always ignored.

Until now.

PROLOGUE -1-

The Puppy Eyes

My life was perfect.

I had the perfect shoes and the perfect friends and I lived in the perfect house. My nails were perfect and my hair was perfect (except on Sundays, it was always windy on Sundays) and I had the perfect clothes. My lips were a perfect red and my hair perfectly straight. My eyeshadow was perfect, my hips were…okay, and my waist…well…also okay. Nothing was wrong in my life.

But then there was Jack.

Jack was a problem.

He needed to go. I mean, when you’re dead, you’re dead! I had told him this endlessly. Somehow, Jack didn’t get it. I mean, I felt sorry for the guy. Sure. Being stuck between this life and the next. But just because I found him, does that mean I needed to keep him?

I think not!

Sadly, when Jack got that look in his eyes, that weary, almost teary (if his tearducts worked) look, I melted. I just couldn’t send him away. Not even Jack knew where he would go after he died.

Would he, like, die? As in — dead, nada, kaput, finito, gone, no more? Bye bye, sayonara, ciao, hasta la vista baby and all that? I couldn’t have that on my conscience. No way.

I lay on my bed, wondering what to do about him. “Jaaaaaaack,” I hollered.

“Jaaaaaaack!”

Still no answer.

“Jack!”

Jack…materialized.

His eyes rolled down to the ground. He was making those puppy eyes again. “Jack, I told you not to do that. I told you not to play on my sympathies.”

His puppy eyes became worse.

His skin was gray and, well, dead.

“Oh, brother,” I said. “I have to do something about you. If mom finds out I have another ‘imaginary friend’ — at my age — well, I’d die of embarrassment. But, like, really die. Not like you.” I wondered about this. Would I die? Was Jack a freak accident, or did all people live on like him? Think of the cemeteries…

The idea excited me somewhat.

“What would you have me do, Miss Kira?”

“Knock off the Miss Kira crap. I told you it’s just Kira.”

“Yes, Miss Kira.”

The dead. There’s just no reasoning.

“Fine, Miss Kira it is then.” Rover barked like a lunatic in the garden. No one else might be able to see Jack, but I was sure my dog could.

“I have to do something about this,” I mumbled.

-2- The Rat

Mike knocked on the door before I had time to leave the house. Mike was the guy I thought (at the time) was perfect.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me, baby.”

Baby, urgh — I wasn’t his baby. I dated Mike because he was the quarterback, because girls are supposed to like the quarterback, because it’s just so darn perfect to be seen with the quarterback, like we’re brainwashed into thinking these things from the first romantic doll set mom buys us.

This was my previous life.

“Mike.”

“Uh-huh. Gonna let me in?” So you can try rub me up and then complain when I don’t let you? This, dear reader, was the big problem with Mike. The second we first kissed, his hand went way too far south for me to be comfortable — and I pulled back.

Mike suddenly wasn’t so perfect.

“Uhm, I was just on my way out,” I said.

“Kira? C’mon, open the door.” He sounded upset. “Is there someone in there with you?”

Boys. As if.

I didn’t know much about love (nothing, actually) but I knew this wasn’t it. “Uhm, now’s not the time, Mike.”

“C’mon, Kira, what’s going on?” He banged harder.

When in doubt…lie. I opened the door a crack. “There’s a dead rat in the house, Mike. Been here for days. I gotta go get some detergent and stuff to handle the stench.”

Mike stepped back. He peered through the crack of the door.

“It’s really bad,” I said.

“I’ll drive you.”

“I’m afraid the smell” — I stuck my armpit to my nose — “has found its way all over me. I’ll drive myself.”

“O — okay. Fine.” And then he grinned like he wanted something. “Later? My place?”

Urgh. “Uhm, sure…er…later. Not sure when though.”

“Six.”

I fought the urge to roll my eyes. According to girls at school, he was apparently so damn good looking — theoretically. But for me personally, he did nothing. Moved nothing. Twisted nothing. “Look, I gotta go, Mike. I gotta — ”

“Kira.” His eyes grew stern. “You’ve been avoiding me…”

Bingo! Well done contestant number one! And what have you won? A brain!

I tilted my head. “Mike, look, this…rat — I need to deal with it. We’ll talk later, okay? Bye.” I closed the door, not waiting for an answer, and peered out the peep hole. Mike hung around for a second, shoulders wide and eyes glaring straight at me through the door. Could he see me? Did he know I was looking at him?

He kicked something off the ground, and I had the distinct impression he mouthed the word Bitch before leaving. But I wasn’t sure…

-3- The Mack

“Roll down the window, Jack.” Jack was recently dead, so he still had a smell about him. (Which only I could smell…)

I had purposely skipped breakfast. Maybe Jack would help me lose weight. I was (still am) a little wide, although it had never stopped guys flirting with me. I know how to dress.

But I could be skinnier.

Lucy Rogers was skinny. All bones and no boobs.

Charlene Carverton was a babe. Cheerleader. Big chest (which she pushed out generously with a push-up — if only guys knew). Toned thighs. Charlene only dated college boys (back then), which I still think is pretty gross for a girl her age.

“He’s not for you,” Jack said out the blue.

“Hmm?”

“This…Mike — he’s wrong for you, Miss Kira.” For all Jack’s faults (mainly, being dead), he has a good heart. Factually, probably it’s why I kept him around at first.

“You think I don’t know that?”

“Then why don’t you dump him?”

I braked at a stop sign. Looked left and right. “Because I’d look like an idiot. I flirted with him and showed interest, and one kiss later I can’t stand the sight of him.”

“So dump him.”

“It’s not that simple. Kids at school — they can be vicious. I have to let it fade slowly. If I drop the bomb on him, I’ll never hear the end of it through senior year.”

“And you care?”

Yes, I did.

Forget Guantanamo, schools are rough. “You don’t understand, Jack. Maybe school was different in your day. But in mine, well, we walk through metal detectors.”

“Schools weren’t too different in my day.” I noted the sadness in his voice.

“You okay?”

“I’m dead.”

Right. “You miss…your life?”

Jack shrugged. “I like being with you, Miss Kira. And I don’t remember much of my life. I think I’m in limbo.”

“Limbo?”

“Yes, like I have some unfinished business. If only I could remember…what…it is…” He scratched his head.

“Any ideas?”

“Well, it can’t be love. If it were love, I’d be a vampire. That’s who teenage girls fall in love with these days.”

“A vampire? That’s just what I need — two undead beings stalking me.”

“I feel I have something to do around you, Miss Kira. I don’t know what, but something. Something important.”

I looked over at him. “Me?”

I was still looking at him when I missed the stop sign.

EXCERPT

TRANSYLVANIA, PROVINCE OF THE HAPSBURG EMPIRE, SEPTEMBER 1820

They ran their hands over his body. There were three of them. Their palms rubbed his chest, his hips and thighs, and the bulge of his biceps where his wrists were bound above his head. The nails scraped lightly, threatening. He knew what was to come. The stone bench on which he lay was hard against the bare flesh of his buttocks and shoulders, but the room was warm. They loved heat. It was a true luxury in the winter of the Carpathian Mountains. The only illumination came from the fire licking at the logs in the great stone arches. Above him, their faces hung, unreal in the flickering light. Their eyes glowed red. Now they would compel him. Their low moans filled the little room cut into the rocky heart of the monastery. He knew every crevice in its stone by now. This room held his torment and possibly his salvation.

“Test him well, tonight, sisters,” one of them whispered. Her breasts brushed his belly.

“Is he worthy of our father’s trust?” another breathed into his ear.

He felt his loins throb, tight with a need he dared not indulge. He had no idea whether they compelled that need, or whether it belonged to him. A tongue found his nipple. He could not help but arch up into it. The chains clanked. A hand cupped his balls. He felt the scrape of canines at his throat. They wanted blood tonight. He waited for the pain. How would he bear their ministrations in the long hours ahead?

You deserve this, he told himself. A thousand years of torment would not atone for your crimes. You have one chance at redemption and they will help you to it.

He breathed as they had taught him. He focused inward, searching for an island of control. His shoulders relaxed. All emotion drained slowly away. The piercing of his carotid was a fact of pain, no more. One of them sucked at his throat while the others kept him roused.

But now he was ready for whatever they might do to him. He would become what was required. No matter the cost, he would atone.

From me to you ~ So, what are you doing in October?

I’m attending the Midwestern Book Lovers Unite Conference.

There will be tons of stuff to do!

If you can’t attend all four days consider coming for the book signing. It’s only $25 to spend time with the authors. Really we’re a great group! Think of the parties! They will be awesome!

Starting on Thursday we have our Pajama Party!

WHAT? You want MORE?

You got it!

Only Boots, Chaps, and Cowboy Hats (Included in full registration) $ 30.00 USD

Just in case you only want hear Jackson Young!

Well, aren’t you the glutton!

Here’s another party!

But maybe you think it’s too expensive?

Consider this!

(Mind you, if I’ve persuaded you to come, please list me, LOL! Beverly Ovalle)

Have you played Jeopardy?

I’ve watched it, so I suppose I should ask, have you? Not many have played it I’m sure.  I have to come up with a book related theme and have 10 questions from easy to hard.

I’m looking for suggestions!

I plan on it being paranormal as that is the majority of the books I write. Plus, there is only one other author submitting that writes paranormal.

I thought about tossing in BDSM as no one submitting for the game writes that. But neither do I! Well, except for a little light bondage in Touched by the Sandman. 🙂

So, should it be shifters? Pack names? Mating habits, mating rituals. It will have to appeal to a broad band of contestants.

I have to come up with 10 definitions/answers from easy to hard.

What do you think? Leave me comments you think would help!

On the Road with SCP – Species Interaction- Cheyenne Meadows

Blurb:

Shyanne McDaniel, a young widow
and mother of two small boys, loses her heart to Meat, an exotic dancer
and alpha liger shifter, but dating another species proves a challenge.

While trying to figure out how to deal
with an alpha shifter that likes the word “obey” way too much for her
liking, Shy juggles raising her twin sons, taking local college classes,
dealing with an adoptive family that leans heavily toward odd, and her
job. She finds herself working for a man called Cannibal and battling
for Meat’s attention from a cover model shifter, all the while trying
not to think too much about her gift prize threesome fantasy weekend,
Meat’s nun fetish, and her penchant for finding trouble.
Finding love again is never easy, and
doing so with an alpha shifter only makes for more challenges. Can they
work out their differences and love one another for who they are?
*** Author highly suggests reading Human Interaction before this book, otherwise the reader will be lost and confused ***
Excerpt:

I
wiggled on Meat’s lap as he licked at the ticklish spot just behind my
ear. The movements earned a groan from him and gave me a strong hint
what his near future intentions were, if the large bump under my rear
had anything to do with it.
A second later, Meat spun me halfway
around, wrapping one arm behind my shoulders, while the other slipped
under my knees. He stood swiftly and easily, cradling me as he strode
away from the table.
“Don’t forget her spanking.” Ducian’s voice carried across the room. “She’s been anticipating it all afternoon.”
I gasped and looked up into my boyfriend’s face and immediately forgot the sassy comeback to the vampire’s reminder.
He looked intense. Deep blue eyes
flashed, a growl resounded from his throat. His lips pulled back in an
almost grimace, reminding me of the Wild Kingdom episode about lion
matings. Meat carried the same facial expression as a male lion scenting
a female right before he climbed on board for some serious species
reproduction.
My belly somersaulted.

I
had a strong suspicion Meat’s inner kitty prowled just under the human
skin, snarling in demand for things his way. The biting used as
punishment for not seeking his protection, the strong control, and the
predatory attitude all shouted one thing. Feline displeasure.
Which meant I was about to get a quick
lesson in female submission to an alpha male liger intent on staking
his claim while proving his dominance once and for all.
I bit back a whimper of strong desire.
He carried me into the bedroom and
shut the door firmly behind him. His lips sealed over mine in a sizzling
hot preview of his intentions. Opening wide, his tongue sought the very
recesses of my mouth, flicking and tasting. I nibbled his bottom lip
and returned the favor, not pulling away until a lack of oxygen forced
me.
Only then did he deposit me on the waiting king-sized bed. Gaining my balance, I scooted toward the center and waited.
“Turn over.”

Author Bio:  Growing up in the
Midwest, I began reading romance novels in high school, immediately
falling in love with the genre, to the point where I decided to write
professionally for a career. However, that dream splattered against a
brick wall and resulting quick death in my first writing class in
college when my professor told me bluntly that I wasn’t any good at it. I
shifted gears quickly, and left my writing dreams behind, eventually
settling on being a nurse.
A
few years back, I stumbled across a fan-fiction writing site on a
favorite author’s webpage. I began to read stories others wrote, not
only making some wonderful close friends from the experience, but also,
really learning to write for the very first time. Here I was able to
share short stories, practice my writing skills, and truly develop into a
writer. More than that, the experience allowed me to revitalize my
dream, as I rediscovered joy in writing.
When I’m not working or writing, I
enjoy working in the garden, canning, and seeing my backyard as a living
canvas for my whimsical landscaping, and, of course, reading romance
novels.
