**A Standalone Novella dealing with Romance and Hoodoo Folk Magic**

When the Snowman whispered, Faith’s marriage had crumbled and the world had already gone insane. Instead of a holly jolly Christmas, the garbage of humanity filled the news. A crazy election and mass shootings. Riots and protests. People screamed at each other on and offline.

In 2016, the world had gone mad and,
maybe Faith too.

Because there was a snowman. And she carved him into a cold, chiseled masterpiece. And he came alive. Maybe due to the mojo bag her mother gave her for Christmas. Maybe due to the human insanity bleeding and spilling its rot onto the earth.

Or maybe it was all that hunger,
sweltering inside of Faith and yearning to wake up and break free.

Regardless,
that beautiful snow man whispered.

He came alive.

And things will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~ S. Lowry

A bit of fantasy, a bit of strange like the twilight zone with a bit of magic all tied in a messy bow of fun

4.0 out of 5 stars ~ Steamy IR Reads
Original, intrigueing, creative masterpiece
It was more to the story than i anticipated. It had the horror of Tananarive Due , the passion and mystery of Game of Thrones, and the realism and cautionary tale of Toni Morrison, with the mysticism of Alice Walker. A good read.

I wish he was real.

I shaped him from snow,

and he stood tall above me.

He was chiseled glass in the winter. A life-sized crystal man, slick and curved in all the right places. I used a step ladder to smooth the top of his head, my knife to line his muscles, and my hands to form his face.

Beautiful.

I clutched the tiny red leather bag hanging from a string around my neck. A piece of twine tied it closed. A heart-shaped key dangled on its side. Letting go of the bag, I licked my lips and imagined him alive and in front of me.

He’s gorgeous. I’d melt all over him.

I sculpted for a living, but this had been my best work.

The snowman’s flesh appeared like crushed pearls. I slipped my fingers along the smooth line of his body—shivering from the touch of him. He was frozen pecs and a cold bulge at his groin. A frosty masterpiece. I used my earrings for his eyes—oval sapphires surrounded by diamonds. They sparkled in the winter sun.

“Those are some expensive eyes, my friend.” I placed the hat on his head.

Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.

Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.

It’s an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.

It’s this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person
about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.

Excerpt

“Thanks. Where are you heading?” Doc settled back in her seat, putting her crutches next to her with a sigh.

“I’m heading home for Christmas. Wisconsin. What about you?” Nick moved to get out of the aisle. He was in the row behind her. Nick stood leaning over his seat to continue their conversation. Nick blinked, his attention captured as he looked down. Doc was wearing a very pretty, low cut sweater. From this angle he had a perfect view of her red lacy bra and the curvy flesh it hugged. Nick reached down and quickly adjusted himself. He’d been at attention since he hugged her.

“I needed a break. I’m visiting Chicago, heading to see a VA doctor there about a new prosthetic, before I go back home.”

“Home being where?”

“San Diego.” Doc looked up at him and glared when she saw where his gaze was. “What do you think you are doing?” She snapped her fingers in front of his nose, breaking his line of sight. Nick grinned unabashedly at her.

“Admiring the view.”

Biography

Real People * Real Problems * Real Love

Casey Dawes is a good romance writer with seven published romance novels and three romance short stories. Her stories contain a diverse set of characters face with real problems (job loss, divorce, challenging children, prejudice, difficult upbringings, etc.) who find real love.

Casey’s first five-book romance novel series focuses on life and loves of a California Central Coast town which loosely resembles the Santa Cruz area. Skillfully weaving place and story, the series evokes sentiments like, “I was born & raised in the Santa Cruz area,,,,,,this was like coming home again.”

The California romance novel series is currently sold as an e-book set, California Wishes. The prequel, California Sunshine, is a romance short story.

Casey shifts focus to Missoula, Montana, for her two western Christmas romance novels: Montana Christmas Magic and Sweet Montana Christmas. A western romance novella, Love on the Wind, shows two new adults from opposite backgrounds (small-town girl and Native American) struggle to find their path and love in life.

To catch up on her romance author news, such as the release of new titles, click the Amazon follow button, or sign up for her newsletter (http://www.stories-about-love.com).

When not creating romance novels, Casey quilts, knits, reads, and hikes near the Clark Fork River in western Montana with her husband. The couple is owned by a slightly used cat.

From Me to You

Ahhh! The coming down from the food coma from Thanksgiving! I held it here at home. My parents came up and it was just the six of us with mountains of food. Luckily nothing will go to waste. I’ve learned a lot of ways for turkey to be reused, lol.

Thanksgiving cooking and clean up were easy. I did everything but the turkey and desserts in the slow cooker. I had 5 of them lined up on the counter. I’d have used more but I lost the lid to one. Probably given a new home when my husband put the dishes away. It is a matter of finding it!

So, what do you normally have? My lineup star was the Turkey, followed by stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, cranberries and green bean casserole. For dessert we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, mint chocolate cheesecake and rocky road fudge.

We have leftovers of everything! I cooked enough for at least twelve when we only had six. So thanksgiving dinner will be what we have for the next few days, lol.

I made everything from scratch. Trial and error guided me. I will never attempt cranberries again! Store bought for me. I followed an online recipe and it was way too sour for me. I tried saving it, but that was a no go! They were the only leftovers I didn’t save. The carrots and sweet potatoes were candied. Brown sugar and butter were nummy! Since we are diabetic (hubby and I) I used the splenda brown suger. You couldn’t even tell.

The cheesecake (it is soooo good), came from a recipe book from the cheesecake contest that is held here yearly. We have a Kraft plant in town, so it is one of the highlights I look forward to. You can taste test all of the cheesecakes that day. Yummy, yummy! I only changed it up a little. I made the crust from oreo cookies. You can purchase the cook book of previous winners. Since I love cheesecake and I collect recipe books I couldn’t pass it up. It turned out delicious. Of course it WAS one of previous winners!

So on top of that, I’ve been sick all week. I’ve been crawling out of bed each day to work. Black Friday I took the day off of work to shop, but didn’t even head out until 900 am. My first stop was the mattress company here in town. They had mattresses on sale for $98 and I needed a bed. My son is coming home to visit and there is no bed for him since my daughter and granddaughter moved home in March. Then I bought a frame online for a platform bed with storage. Since we’re cleaning out the spare room to return it to the bedroom it originally was, storage is definitely needed.

Later, when I can breath and think, I’ll be going over my edits from Willow’s Cry. I’m only waiting on one beta reader to get back to me. I’ll fix the errors the others found before going over it again before official edits! Then the blurb and cover have to be completed. A never ending cycle. As slow as I’m going, and with Christmas ramping up (I work for the Post Office) I’m shooting for a January release date. That way I’m not frantic trying to get everything done at once.

So relax! Enjoy the holidays, and read up!

Love doesn’t come easy for everyone. Sometimes it never shows, and for others it’s stolen from their lives.

Michelle Harper quit trying to find love after a string of failed dates. Sure, her life hadn’t turned out quite like she expected, but she was done trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. She was perfectly happy filling her life with her love of cooking.

Weeks before Christmas, a chance encounter brings Jake Smith into her life. The spell of the season weaves around her, and she’s quickly caught under some mistletoe with the handsome stranger. When Michelle can’t keep Jake off her mind, she realizes she’s gone too far.

With her heart on the line, she can only wait and see if the magic of the holiday season will bring her the best gift of all… love.

“Where were you off to when you fell over?”

“I fell over?”

Jake rubbed his rough cheek. “Well, you took one look at me and toppled over.”

“Wow, aren’t we just full of ourselves?” Michelle chuckled.

He brushed nonexistent lint off his chest. “I can’t help it if women just fall at my feet.”

Michelle watched as Jake’s head jerked toward her with the impact of Annie’s hand.

“Ow! What was that for?” Jake asked Annie as she dropped the bags and walked away.

He never got a response. The woman shook her head and shot him an annoyed look as she took her place behind the counter once again.

“Do you make friends with women everywhere you go?” Michelle teased.

“I must be losing my touch.” He glanced down to look at the text preview that lit up his phone. “Big baby,” he mumbled at the screen before his eyes met hers. “May I walk you to your car? Or were you going home on foot?”

Michelle pointed at his phone. “Sounds like you’re being beckoned.”

“He can wait however long it will take me to walk you somewhere.”

Her stomach flipped and flopped at those words. So simple, and yet the sweetness of it all caused her to feel special. Something a man hadn’t made her feel in way too long. “My car is a couple blocks in the direction we just came from.”

Jake put cash on the table to cover the food and offered her his hand. She placed hers in it, and he helped her from the booth. He refused to let her carry her own food and led her past the curious eyes in the diner.

The snow came down once again, and the icy flakes fell on her warm skin. After releasing his hand, she adjusted her scarf and he flipped up the collar to his coat. With a shy smile, she slipped her bare hand back into his. She knew it was too cold to go without gloves, but she wanted to feel his warm skin against hers.

“You probably won’t agree with me, and it’s a crappy thing to say, but—”

“But?” Michelle asked.

His smile lit up his face as he looked over at her. “I’m really glad I ran you over.”

She leaned her head on his arm and laughed. “Yeah, you’re right. That is crappy, and trust me, my wrist doesn’t agree with you at all, but—”

“But?” he teased.

Michelle sighed and playfully rolled her eyes at him. “I’m glad you tackled me to the ground too.”

Jake chuckled. “That was not a tackle.”

She raised her eyebrow in disbelief. “You’re so full of it.”
