Wading Through Shallow Water

Wading Through Shallow Water
by Toni Morrow Wyatt
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Suspense
Bookstore owner, Dee Dee Montgomery, was born with a gift. Not only does she
possess magical powers, she is able to tell the history of an object
by touching it. Fiercely independent, the last thing Dee Dee is
looking for is love.
Whenauthor, Alex Winter, loses his wife to cancer shortly after the birth
of their son, writing becomes his therapy. His book, Moving Past the
Hurt, spurs a book signing tour, which leads him to Dee Dee’s
bookstore.
Just when Dee Dee’s world is about to turn into a fairy tale, a tragic
accident rips it all away.
Kate Waterhouse, Alex’s ex-sister-in-law, pops into town as things are
falling apart, bringing her handsome, arrogant brother, Blake.
Determined to claim what she believes is rightfully hers, Kate must locate her
family’s Book of Shadows. As Kate’s evil plot unfolds, leaving lives
on the line, Dee Dee must face the Waterhouse siblings or risk losing
everyone she loves.
Excerpt:
Alex Winter buttered toast while his son Billy sang him a song about bugs. A consistent morning routine saved a lot of trouble. Mary would have been proud of them, or so he liked to think. The hole she had left in their lives could never be filled, but they did the best they could. She had been gone for five years. During the first three, there were times Alex didn’t know how they would ever get past the pain. He found writing about his experiences as a widowed father helped more than therapy ever could.Recently, he had been getting letters from the readers of his book. Some were from women looking for something he wasn’t ready to give. Others were from single parents in the same situation. The latter meant more to him than he had ever thought possible. Going on his upcoming book tour would test everything he had written. He had one local book signing on Wednesday, his first, and then he was scheduled for Houston. If all went well, he would travel the country. The decision to take Billy had been a no brainer. However, the logistics of taking him were a bit more complicated than he had envisioned.

After Mary died, he had gathered the names of nannies from his friends with children. He had spent months interviewing candidates within an inch of their lives, leaving nothing unasked. Finally, he had settled on an older woman named Ada Nelson. Mrs. Nelson was also widowed, and her children were grown. Each had moved off with their families to various parts of the country. She saw them around the holidays, but not much more. Her credentials were impeccable. She had accepted the position with only one request—Fluffy, her cat, must come along. She had moved into a spare bedroom, and soon, she and Fluffy had become happy members of the Winter family. The way she ran the household and took care of Billy was nothing less than magical in Alex’s opinion. He hadn’t dreamed he would find such a perfect match.

“Why does the toast always have black on it?” Billy asked, turning up his nose.

“Because Daddy doesn’t know how to operate a toaster.”

“Why not?”

“That’s a good question. Would you like some cereal?”

“Yes, please. Daddy, are you going to have some cereal?”

“Not this morning. I need to finish some last minute things. Guess what we’re going to do this week?” Alex asked as he put a bowl of cereal filled with too much milk in front of his son.

“What?”

“We’re going to go shopping for new clothes and new shoes for our trip.”

“Where are we going again?” Billy asked, milk ran down his chin and dripped onto his pajama shirt.

“We’re going to a big city called Houston. Do you remember me showing it to you on the map?”

Billy nodded, crunching and trying to swallow.

Both turned as Mrs. Nelson came in the back door carrying two sacks of groceries. Alex took them from her and set them on the island.

“It’s a beautiful morning out there, boys,” she said, putting her handbag on the counter. She began putting away the shopping and pulled a newspaper out of one of the bags.

“Did you remember to get some chocolate milk?” Billy asked.

“Of course, how could I forget? We put it number one on the list. Would you like me to pour you some?”

“Yes, please. Can I play with Fluffy after breakfast?”

“Not today. She’s at the beauty parlor getting her fur done for our big trip next week.”

She set the frothy milk next to Billy’s cereal bowl.

“She is?”

“Sure. She takes great pride in her fur. That’s why I named her Fluffy.”

Billy giggled.

“Are you finished with your cereal?” she asked.

He nodded.

“Finish your chocolate milk, hop on down, and go wash up. I’ll set out your clothes. Don’t forget to brush your teeth. I think today would be a good day to go to the park.”

“Yippee,” he yelled, running down the hall toward the bathroom.

She smiled at Alex. “He’s a good boy.”

“He’s great. I can’t imagine my life without him.” He took some canned goods out of a sack and put them on a high shelf.

“I thought maybe you would need some alone time so you can get things done for your book signing and our trip. After the park, I thought I’d take Billy with me to pick up Fluffy from her day at the spa.”

“I do have some loose ends to tie up before we leave. Thanks, Ada. If you need me for any reason, you can reach me on my cell phone. I need to run some errands, go to the bank, and drop some stuff off at the post office, but it shouldn’t take long. I’ll be here most of the afternoon.”

He picked up the newspaper and took his coffee into his home office.

Once he was out of sight, Mrs. Nelson pointed at a sponge next to the sink. Soaring through the air, it landed on the island. The cereal bowl and empty glass of milk rose and floated to the sink as the sponge wiped the area clean. With one swoop of her arm, the rest of the groceries found their proper homes, and the kitchen was as tidy as she had left it before leaving that morning.

Sitting at his desk, Alex flipped through the pages of the newspaper. He stopped when he came to an advertisement for his upcoming book signing.

Come meet Alex Winter, author of ‘Moving Past the Hurt,’ this Wednesday at Montgomery’s Bookstore in downtown San Antonio, just one block from the Alamo.

He picked up a pen and drew a circle around the ad. On his desk calendar, he made a notation for the next day: Drive into San Antonio and check out Montgomery’s Bookstore.

When the Snowman Whispered ~ Kenya Wright

  Title: When the Snowman Whispered
By: Kenya Wright
Publication Date: December 23, 2016
Genre: Paranormal Romance
#whenthesnowmanwhisperedtour

***Warning: This book contains adult language, graphic violence, and explicit sex that may be disturbing for some readers. This book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.***

**A Standalone Novella dealing with Romance and Hoodoo Folk Magic**

When the Snowman whispered, Faith’s marriage had crumbled and the world had already gone insane. Instead of a holly jolly Christmas, the garbage of humanity filled the news. A crazy election and mass shootings. Riots and protests. People screamed at each other on and offline.

In 2016, the world had gone mad and,
maybe Faith too.

Because there was a snowman. And she carved him into a cold, chiseled masterpiece. And he came alive. Maybe due to the mojo bag her mother gave her for Christmas. Maybe due to the human insanity bleeding and spilling its rot onto the earth.

Or maybe it was all that hunger,
sweltering inside of Faith and yearning to wake up and break free.

Regardless,
that beautiful snow man whispered.

He came alive.

And things will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~ S. Lowry

A bit of fantasy, a bit of strange like the twilight zone with a bit of magic all tied in a messy bow of fun

4.0 out of 5 stars ~ Steamy IR Reads
Original, intrigueing, creative masterpiece
It was more to the story than i anticipated. It had the horror of Tananarive Due , the passion and mystery of Game of Thrones, and the realism and cautionary tale of Toni Morrison, with the mysticism of Alice Walker. A good read.

I wish he was real.

I shaped him from snow,

and he stood tall above me.

He was chiseled glass in the winter. A life-sized crystal man, slick and curved in all the right places. I used a step ladder to smooth the top of his head, my knife to line his muscles, and my hands to form his face.

Beautiful.

I clutched the tiny red leather bag hanging from a string around my neck. A piece of twine tied it closed. A heart-shaped key dangled on its side. Letting go of the bag, I licked my lips and imagined him alive and in front of me.

He’s gorgeous. I’d melt all over him.

I sculpted for a living, but this had been my best work.

The snowman’s flesh appeared like crushed pearls. I slipped my fingers along the smooth line of his body—shivering from the touch of him. He was frozen pecs and a cold bulge at his groin. A frosty masterpiece. I used my earrings for his eyes—oval sapphires surrounded by diamonds. They sparkled in the winter sun.

“Those are some expensive eyes, my friend.” I placed the hat on his head.

Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.

Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.

It’s an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.

It’s this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person
about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.

EXCERPT

She would make a magnificent dragon. Wrapped in all the gold he could give her, her flesh peeking from beneath. She was his.

Kai.”

He looked over at Ellen, lifting a brow in inquiry.

Don’t mess with my cousin.”

He grinned. “I’m not. She’s my mate.” Ellen’s eyes widened while Breccan and Maxwell snickered. His eyes wandered down the hall she’d flounced out. She might have meant to look fierce, but her bouncy blonde hair and petite size negated that. Kai wanted nothing more than to follow her and claim her. Her scent was even stronger in the enclosed space than wafting on the breeze. He’d bet she wore a dragon’s mark somewhere on her luscious body. He couldn’t wait to hunt for it.

Holy cow! Are you sure?” Ellen grinned. “That’s great!”

Breccan chimed in. “By her reaction, I’d say not so great.” He sported a big grin on his face. “Looks like Kai will have a battle on his hands.”

Maxwell’s sly twist of his lips showed he was enjoying the situation too.

Kai glared at them. Damn wolves. They were a pain. He could see the colors in the kitchen change as his dragon attempted to get out. A little barbeque wolf was a tasty snack. The rumble of agreement by his dragon made him smirk. He couldn’t hurt those two, no matter how aggravating they were. Breccan was the only reason Ellen didn’t spend her days wrapped in fear any more. His dragon reluctantly settled down.

Shivering against him as she parted her lips to speak, Waverlee moaned as his tongue swept forward, stealing the opportunity to deepen their kiss. And holy moly, the man could kiss. And not just any old kiss either. It was the-steal-your-breath-I-can’t-live-without-his-touch-because-nothing-else-in-the-world-matters kind of kiss a girl spends her life dreaming about. Their tongues danced together for long minutes as everything else faded away. The people. The noise. Everything took a backseat to the fierce passion Shaw created with a simple touch of his mouth to hers.

Forcing herself to find her voice when Shaw lifted his mouth from hers to take a deep breath, Waverlee flashed a furtive glance up at his darkened eyes. “Wow,” she breathed shakily, clutching handfuls of his light blue dress shirt in her fists as the world seemed to spin at warp speed, “I..I…don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that before,” she whispered, the words catching in her throat as his finger swept against her lower lip.

“Then you best hold on real tight to me, baby, ‘cause I’m just getting started,” he replied, dropping his head to steal another deep, wet kiss from her lips as he curved one big hand around her neck, wrapping her silky hair around his fist and tugging gently.

From sexy stories with married couples fighting against outside forces to keep their happily ever after in the Sex & Vows series to unexpected pregnancies that lead to happy marriages in the Yeah, Baby series… the Sex, Vows & Babies world is full of over the top alphas, sassy heroines, insta-love, wedding bells, and growing families. Although the wide cast of characters in both series have managed to find the loves of their lives, there’s bound to be plenty more out there who could use Sex, Vows & Babies in their lives. A creation of the fabulous Fiona Davenport, the Sex, Vows & Babies Kindle World is filled with creative stories from amazing authors who pay homage to the original books!

Sarah O’Rourke is actually TWO besties who live three states apart and write at all hours of the day and night! Born and raised in the Southern United States, they are overly attached to their one-click accounts, can’t make it through the day without copious doses of caffeine, and spend way too much time on the phone with each other.

Between them, they have four children and twenty-four years of marriage. They hate empty chocolate wrappers and writer’s block, love to talk to readers…and oh, by the way, they write about strong, kick-ass women and hot alpha heroes!

Contact Sarah today….she loves to chat!
