I’m unpredictable.
A genius, an underachiever.
I’m the song, the voice, the passion, the pain.
I am failure.
I do music because it’s what I am, but sometimes that’s not enough.
A slave to my nature, I wait for it to show mercy and drop a gift in my lap.
Because the music chose me.
I’m its victim not its gift.

She destroyed my career.
Ruined my life.
Pushed me from the shadows and exposed my lies.
She’s the fire that destroys lesser men,
and now her flames are aimed at me.
She loves to watch me burn,
but the part we never saw coming?
Sometimes it takes a fire to ignite a spark
And slay the darkness.

From Me to You ~ Willow’s Cry coming soon

Happy Saturday! We’re heading to another RV show, lol. Burlington RV is having and open house and we are heading over to check out their used RV’s. No way can we afford a new one! Then, we’re meeting our daughter and granddaughter at a dinosaur museum. RAWR!

So, Willow’s Cry is coming out April 7th! If you are going to North Iowa Book Bash, I’m hoping to have it there. I’m working on loading it to Amazon this weekend. (I’m going to be busy, aren’t I?) so it should go up for pre-order shortly after it is approved. But not until my covers done! I gave up trying to do it myself, lol. I’m waiting for the cover artist to finish. She’s working on it this weekend also. Here’s a little preview.

When you’ve pissed off Mother Nature, anything can happen…

Willow’s Cry

Alex is just a regular guy… who can hear the wind speak and the earth talk, not a bad thing for a Park Ranger if a bit unusual. His life is everything he desires. Until Mother Nature expresses her displeasure at his family’s threat to sell the land they had been charged to protect. Alex is left to try to stop the sale, finding a damsel in distress along the way who wraps herself around his heart.

Happy living in her tree, observing the world without joining in, Willow has yearned for Alex for years. Too shy to emerge, the little nymph is suddenly catapulted into Alex’s arms, her tree destroyed during a massive storm.

Mother Nature has a plan and she’ll do everything she can to force Alex’s family to continue their roles as guardians, even if it means sacrificing one she protects.

Excerpt

The phone rang, loud and obnoxious in the quiet night. God, he hoped there wasn’t another emergency. Alex stomped in, slamming the door open, tired in every inch of his body. He didn’t even flinch at the loud bang from the door hitting the wall. With his luck he’d be going back out again. The passing storm had downed trees and stranded campers. The last couple of days searching for hikers lost in the storm had every inch of his body aching.

“Hello?”

“Good job finding the hikers.”

He didn’t need accolades. Grunting rather than replying, he placed the phone on speaker. Before he could take a much needed rest, he needed to file his paperwork. Jordan’s call was only an irritant.

“You could at least say thank you.”

“What’d you need?” On the best of days he didn’t like people. Placing his hat onto the table and tossing his coat over the coatrack Alex kicked the chair back from the desk and settled down, wriggling to find comfort in the hard seat. Jordan never called without a reason.

“Just wanted to complement you.”

“Fine, consider it done.” Hanging up the phone before Jordan say another word, Alex reached over and turned his computer on. Booting up a new program his cousin Kane had designed and installed, Alex began to speak and it typed. Thank God. Sometimes his fingers seemed larger than the keyboard. Complaining to Kane about the problem of how long his reports took to do got results. Alex smirked, just like he knew it would.

Alex leaned over, untying his boots. His voice echoing through the empty room. The laces unforgiving, tight with rain and mud. The heat in the room began to sink into his cold tired bones. With the laces loose enough, he pulled them off, spreading his toes in relief. He wrinkled his nose. The smell from the wet leather of his boots and the stink of his feet began to fill the room.

From me to you!

I’m trying to figure out Amazon. I know, I know, good luck there! Because I’m trying to figure out how to put my books on sale for my birthday!

I’ll be double nickels this year. HOW DID I GET SO OLD? So I’m looking to share my landmark, lol. I still have a bit of time to figure it out. I’ll be 55 on 11. (Remember the slogan, Stay Alive Drive 55?) Way past my golden birthday! Tomorrow will be the final check of Willow’s Cry. When that is done, I’ll have to do the blurb and finish the cover. I’m trying to do that myself. It might not work, so we’ll see!

Today I’m working the AMVETS Spaghetti dinner. It is our largest fundraiser. I always enjoy helping out, knowing most of our proceeds go towards assisting veterans and active duty military. I am a Veteran and always appreciated the help and knowledge of those that have gone before me.

Here’s a picture from one of my shipmates! I’m on the right hand side with the blonde hair and big 80’s glasses, lol.

From Me to You

It’s 2:00 am in the morning and I am falling asleep sitting up in bed! I’ve been playing on Ancestry.com for close to 5 hours!

My paternal grandfather is still a mystery. I remember meeting his sister, my great aunt Sue years ago. We were all scared of her! They talked about their brother, Lincoln, so I know I’m on the right track. Plus, I know that my great-grandmothers first name was Grace. But looking at the written birth, death and marriage records has my head spinning.

It shows grandpa got married at 19. Some of the records show his spouse as 21, others show as 31! So far I haven’t found a divorce record, which I surely hope I will as some 12 years later he married my grandmother! I know there are 3 children from his first marriage and 7 to my grandma.

I was told he was raised in an orphanage when his father died and his mother lost it then passed away mysteriously. According to the records I’m finding his father lived long after his wife passed. Yet he put his sons in an orphanage and at least one was adopted by another family. It boggles my mind.

I’ve been told (by my great aunt Sue) that she was taken in by family. But she never spoke more about it. I don’t think they even really know what happened for sure. My grandfather was only 8 when his mother died and he had 2 older siblings and 2 younger. Then I find hints of yet another sibling. And that my great grandma possibly had a previous marriage and child.

And I find no marriage certificate to my great grandpa. You know, the one that gave his children away.

My family history alone could spin one heck of a book, lol.

The pictures alone are enough to scare you!

This is a picture of my great great grandparents. Not sure where it was taken, but definitely typical of the day!

From Me to You!

Better late than never! I couldn’t miss posting on the last Saturday of the year!

It is bitter sweet. I just came back from the second retirement party of the week. Both employees had over 30 years of service. One day it will be me, but not yet. Instead I had to say goodbye to two wonderful workers. Each person that retires takes a little piece with them, changing the workplace forever.

It’s not all sad, I hire new employees that add their own personality to the mix. In an ever changing workplace everyone contributes. It keeps me hopping!

So, now that I said goodbye, I’m home.

I’m trying to finish up Willow’s Cry. I have my beta readers info and I’ll be editing based on their input. I’m still waiting for one to get back to me, so I’ll have to email her, but I have two of them to get started. I’m also trying a crash course of photoshop, lol. I know what I want for my cover and I just need a little help to get it done.

It’s harder than it looks! At least for me.

So, have a Happy New Year and I hope 2018 is filled with new and joyful experiences!

Happy Saturday or so I thought…

I’ve a few more gifts to wrap. Nothing big, and some just for the stockings. Is everyone else ready? I don’t decorate much at all! The tree is up. That’s it, lol. We didn’t even decorate the tree. That was more for the safety of our decorations since we have an inquisitive two year old living here!

This is all I wrote before windows started updating! It finished just about an hour ago. It started yesterday, Saturday and continued. Every time I thought it was done, it started again, lol. BEWARE the Window 10 update! Don’t need your computer for a while. In my case, almost 2 days!

I won’t be posting until Tuesday this coming week. I’m going to enjoy the rest of the holidays.

Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and whatever else you may celebrate!

From Me to You

Ahhh! The coming down from the food coma from Thanksgiving! I held it here at home. My parents came up and it was just the six of us with mountains of food. Luckily nothing will go to waste. I’ve learned a lot of ways for turkey to be reused, lol.

Thanksgiving cooking and clean up were easy. I did everything but the turkey and desserts in the slow cooker. I had 5 of them lined up on the counter. I’d have used more but I lost the lid to one. Probably given a new home when my husband put the dishes away. It is a matter of finding it!

So, what do you normally have? My lineup star was the Turkey, followed by stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, cranberries and green bean casserole. For dessert we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, mint chocolate cheesecake and rocky road fudge.

We have leftovers of everything! I cooked enough for at least twelve when we only had six. So thanksgiving dinner will be what we have for the next few days, lol.

I made everything from scratch. Trial and error guided me. I will never attempt cranberries again! Store bought for me. I followed an online recipe and it was way too sour for me. I tried saving it, but that was a no go! They were the only leftovers I didn’t save. The carrots and sweet potatoes were candied. Brown sugar and butter were nummy! Since we are diabetic (hubby and I) I used the splenda brown suger. You couldn’t even tell.

The cheesecake (it is soooo good), came from a recipe book from the cheesecake contest that is held here yearly. We have a Kraft plant in town, so it is one of the highlights I look forward to. You can taste test all of the cheesecakes that day. Yummy, yummy! I only changed it up a little. I made the crust from oreo cookies. You can purchase the cook book of previous winners. Since I love cheesecake and I collect recipe books I couldn’t pass it up. It turned out delicious. Of course it WAS one of previous winners!

So on top of that, I’ve been sick all week. I’ve been crawling out of bed each day to work. Black Friday I took the day off of work to shop, but didn’t even head out until 900 am. My first stop was the mattress company here in town. They had mattresses on sale for $98 and I needed a bed. My son is coming home to visit and there is no bed for him since my daughter and granddaughter moved home in March. Then I bought a frame online for a platform bed with storage. Since we’re cleaning out the spare room to return it to the bedroom it originally was, storage is definitely needed.

Later, when I can breath and think, I’ll be going over my edits from Willow’s Cry. I’m only waiting on one beta reader to get back to me. I’ll fix the errors the others found before going over it again before official edits! Then the blurb and cover have to be completed. A never ending cycle. As slow as I’m going, and with Christmas ramping up (I work for the Post Office) I’m shooting for a January release date. That way I’m not frantic trying to get everything done at once.

So relax! Enjoy the holidays, and read up!
