I’m drowning!

My room is finished.

The move is finished. My daughter and granddaughter are now at home with us. I’m tip toeing around a sea of boxes and baby toys. Today, I experienced getting ready for work while getting a toddler ready to go. It’s been a long time since I had to do that. I could have gone a lifetime without experiencing it again!

I’m soooo glad she’s a cheerful little critter when she wakes up!

I actually managed to get some laundry done. I was so excited. LOL, pretty sad, isn’t it? With our lives up in the air, no routines have been established. I’m trying to find a place that I can write again. I’m currently in an odd and uncomfortable position while writing my post. No way can I finish a book like this!

My computer is practically upside down. I think I’m going to go on the hunt for a desk again. It just has to be small enough to not crowd out the room, but large enough to have my laptop and room for my coffee and notes.

I’d like to get an old cast iron sewing machine bottom and build my own. Maybe I watch too much Flea Market Flip! But since I love to sew, that would combine two of my favorite things! Isn’t this gorgeous? I’d do it with just a bit bigger top so I could add a file cabinet on one side and some type of drawers for all my pens and papers that I jot notes on.

Tomorrow I’ll try a new spot to write in. I have to hide my computer from my granddaughter. Anything that is Grandma’s she thinks is hers! She’s already taken over my Kindle to watch Sesame Street on. In the meantime I’m on a hunt for an old sewing machine.

As always, you can find my books at my Amazon author page!

It’s done!

It’s finally done! Well, we have to put plate covers on two outlets and the light switch, but otherwise we’re finally finished! Here’s a quick picture chronicle. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the before! Though I don’t really want to remember it that way!

This is EVERYTHING primed! I’ve tried to paint raw drywall before and the paint just doesn’t come out even without it, not to mention it will take 3 or more coats to get it to turn out correctly. So one coat of primer is better in the end.

Starting to paint!

This is both colors up.

Now the trim.

You can see that I finally got the closet cleaned out! That was horrible! Especially the weird sticky brown stains in there. I don’t even want to know what the kids got all over the walls. We also painted the inside of the closet. It made a world of difference.

Here are the final pics!

What do you think? I like how it turned it. The room is our smallest. I finally measured it and it is a 13’x13′ room. Not a bad size for the smallest bedroom in the house.

The cast iron bed has been mine since high school. The pink doily on the back is a piece tatted by my great-grandma Esther. Sadly she passed on when I was about 8 months pregnant with my first child, so over 25 years ago. Hard to believe so much time has passed. Anyhow…

The lighter colors and the trim don’t show up quite the same in pictures as they do in real life. The walls are more of a buttery color and the trim a shade darker than white. Here are the color strips.

The main walls are Chai Tea Latte. The accent wall is Honey Haven and the trim is Instant Relief. LOL. I used a Pittsburgh Paint base because it was on sale for $24 a gallon. I have to say, I’m happy with it. I used one full gallon of the Latte, 1/2 a gallon of the Honey and 3/4 of the Instant Relief.

Every color had to have a second coat and that is even after we primed the dry wall. Imagine how many coats I would have had to do if I hadn’t primed! I used 1 1/2 gallons just of the primer. I primed the walls and the trim.

So, you’d think I’d be ready to finish my books, right? Wrong! I’m spending today and tomorrow cleaning out our old room and the other bedroom for my daughter and granddaughter. Blah! They are moving stuff in and will be here for good on Monday when we move the big stuff.

My daughter is working today so I gave my husband the choice to stay home and clean while I babysat or babysit while I cleaned.

He’s babysitting. LOL. Big surprise there!

Don’t forget to enter the hop at the top of the page. I’ll be awarding two prizes. I know a $6 prize seems weird, but since a lot of ebooks are priced at $2.99 you’ll be able to purchase 2!

The second winner will get a choice of one of my ebooks below.

One night he doesn’t remember – One night she’ll never forget!

Blurb:

Lee Santiago went from one mistake to the next. When a friend dies, exposing his mortality all too well Lee’s family steps in to force him to make something of himself. He can’t be a party boy all his life and if he wants to sign his life away, it will be on the dotted line. He doesn’t even have time to say goodbye. Anyway it was only a drunken one night stand.

Isabelle was always the good girl. Until that night. When the man she’d always worshiped finally noticed her. She couldn’t say no. She’s heartsick to find out he doesn’t remember it. Isabelle’s life crashes around her when the results are in. The truth comes out and she has nowhere to turn. She looks for Lee, but he’s gone.

Will he be man enough to step up and face the consequences when he learns the truth?

Excerpt (G):

“Lenny, my man. Alejandro loaned me his car and I wanted to hit Dead Man’s Curve. You up for some fun today? Call me back, dude.”

Closing his phone he stared at it. He willed his phone to ring. Len never left him hanging. They’d been tight for as long as he could remember. A sick feeling twisted in his stomach. He had to know the truth. He dialed the number that they’d only used in emergencies.

It rang and rang. Not good. Lee was getting ready to hang up when it was answered.

“Hola.”

He’d never heard her like that, voice deep and raw.

“Mrs. R. It’s Lee. Can I talk to Len?”

She burst out crying, deep sobs that tore from her gut.

“Mrs. Rodriguez. What’s the matter?”

“Who is this? What did you say?” The phone had changed hands. Mr. Rodriguez answered, his voice hoarse.

“Mr. R. It’s Lee Santiago. I just asked to talk to Lenny. He didn’t answer his phone. I drove by the house earlier.” Lee could hear the tremble in his own voice. “The police were there. Is Lenny okay?”

Lenny was his best bro. He had to be okay. Lee would be lost without him.

“Oh God, Lee.” Lee could hear the heaviness in his voice. “Lenny’s dead. We came home early and found him on the couch. We thought he was asleep.”

Lee squeezed his phone. It couldn’t be true.

“No. He was fine last night. Laughing and joking.”

“The police think it was a drug overdose.”

Lee was silent, heart aching and gut churning.

“Lee, did you hear me?”

“Yes.”

“Lenny didn’t do drugs. He didn’t do drugs, right Lee?”

Lee couldn’t answer. Lenny had started running with a harder crowd lately. His throat felt raw. How could he respond? He didn’t really know for sure.

“Answer me, Lee.”

“Mr. R.” Lee swallowed. “I don’t know. Some of the people he knew…” He drew in a deep breath. “Some of the people he knew weren’t so good.”

The line was silent. He could hear Mr. R’s breathing and Mrs. Rodriguez crying in the background. He leaned his head on the steering wheel. A tremor shook his body. He just knew what was coming.

“Will you tell the police what you know, Lee? Please. Lenny was your best friend.”

His gut clenched. He knew it. What could he say? No? Yes? Lenny was his best friend. Sometimes his only friend. If he told what he suspected, he might as well pick out his gravesite. Hell, his mom already had it. He’d be planted next to Papa, pushing up the roses.

“I don’t know.” He drew in a ragged breath and swallowed. “Maybe.”

“What went on last night, Lee? Was there a party here? The place is trashed.”

Lee could hear him crying. A hopeless sound that twisted his heart. Mr. R had stepped in when Lee’s dad had died years ago, taking him under his wing. How could he say no?

“Yeah, there was a party. I was on my way over to help Lenny clean up when I saw the cops.”

“Why didn’t you come over?”

Lee swallowed and leaned his head back against the seat.

“I didn’t want to hear what you just told me.”

“The police will want to question you. They need to find out what went on last night.”

Lee swallowed and nodded. He squeezed his eyes shut. The damp tracks on his cheeks were drying in the heat leaving his skin tight.

Excerpt (R):

“I’ve never seen you at a party before. I thought you were a good little girl.” His teasing voice sent thrills throughout her body.

“Today’s my birthday.” Isabelle snuggled closer to him. His body seemed to surround hers.

“So, does that make you legal today?”

Isabelle nodded vigorously then groaned. Her head swam from the movement. Maybe, just maybe she’d had a bit much to drink. Lee would take care of her though. He’d promised.

“But not legal for drinking yet.”

Isabelle pouted then sniffed.

“So what? Most of the people here aren’t twenty-one.”

“Doesn’t make it right.”

Isabelle craned her head around to look at him. Surprised at the hard note in his voice.

“But you’ve been drinking since you were in high school.”

“Again, doesn’t make it right. So, you decided to cut loose now that you’re an adult?”

The small smirk at the side of his mouth fascinated her. Somehow the tip of her finger made its way there. His lips were strong but soft, warm against the softness of her finger. The scruff around his mouth prickled her finger as he rubbed his face against it.

“Don’t play with fire, little girl.” He nipped the tip of her finger as he winked at her, sending a zing through her body.

Isabelle giggled. Normally she thought herself out of Lee’s league, but tonight that didn’t bother her in the least. She’d had too many jello shots to care. Snuggled in his arms, his hands on her affected her more than any bit of alcohol could. Combining them gave her a warm glow.

Isabelle wiggled, the trail of his fingertips tickling her neck and circling her ear. She could feel her nipples tightening, glad for her push up bra. It made her boobs look fabulous, but was thick enough to hide her body’s reaction.

Lee chuckled in her ear, sending warmth pooling low in her belly. Isabelle caught her breath as he trailed his finger down her breast unerringly circling her nipple.

“Cat got your tongue, little girl?”

His warm breath in her ear, followed by a flick of his tongue had her gasping. She shifted, wiggling, trying to relieve the ache building in her. Lee pulled her closer, positioning her across one leg. One hand held her tightly by the hip. The other skimmed the top of her camisole dipping in to tease her nipple.

Isabelle gasped at the sensation. “Lee.” She didn’t know if she was encouraging or warning him away.

He chuckled, stroking her nipple until it stood out, obvious to anyone that bothered to look. He lowered his head, bending Isabelle over his arm as he nibbled her through her shirt. With a tug he pulled it aside exposing her breast before quickly sucking it into his mouth.

“Ah.” Isabelle arched offering herself to the warm suction of his mouth. She caught her breath, liquid heat pooling between her legs with each pull. Her toes curled. The noise of the party disappearing, all her senses focused on the sensations swirling in her body.

“Beautiful.” His voice muffled as he nursed.

Author bio:

Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a story to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she’d always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back.

Beverly has been obsessed with dragons and romance since she was a young girl, collecting dragon books and reading everything she could find on them even down to the care of real life dragons. She’s always been slightly panicked that the world as we know it will end, so has prepped for it, haunting survivalist pages and prepper projects she felt she needed in the event SHTF.

An avid fan of all romance, Beverly’s goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them.

A Navy Veteran, Beverly has traveled around the world and the United States enabling her to bring her settings to life, meeting and marrying her husband of twenty five years along the way for her own romance. Reading romances since the fourth grade she’s followed as the genre changed and spread into the vast cornucopia of romance offered today.

Sunday Sales, but first…

So sorry I’ve been off line for a couple of days! My BFF from high school lost his mom this week. I practically lived at his house for four years. I headed down home to Illinois to attend her wake. It’s a 3 hour drive and I worked and then went down. It wasn’t all sadness. Besides hanging with Etienne, we got together with another pair of friends.

High School sweethearts, Tim and Barb have been married for 32 years, have five children and two grandkids. Don’t figure out the math! Yes, I graduated with them. Yes I’m that old. (I told you to not figure out the math!)

The four of us are all the exact same age. Comes with the territory! The last time I’d seen Etienne, I went to his parents 50th wedding anniversary with him. That was 10 years ago.

NO, I’m not that bad of a friend that we live 3 hours apart and I don’t visit. He lives in Seattle and flew home for his mom’s funeral.

So, here is my goofy friend whom I love to pieces.

See, doesn’t he look just a little crazy, lol?

And check out my new glasses! The big 80’s styles are coming back! It is so nice to see again! I got 2 new pair. The ones here are a turquoise tortoise shell, and the other pair are an awesome purple!

Then when I got home, I had to finish painting the room I was working on. I’ll show that in all its finished glory next Saturday on my post. Suffice it to say for now that I’ll be finishing the trim up today, cleaning out the closet so I can get that ready and moving stuff in.

YAY! Then cleaning out the rest of the room where the baby will be sleeping and my daughter and granddaughter will be moving in. Now, one more photo before I have the sales posts. This is the four of us together. Messing around at Denny’s just like old times!

Now, today’s sales!

Time doesn’t heal.
Time hurts.
Makes you stronger, rougher,
And smarter.

Now that I’m back,
Xavier Scott can’t hurt me again,
Won’t hurt me.
I’ve seen my share of pain,
Felt it,
Owned it,
And released it.

After one look,
One touch,
One tremble,
And I’m that broken, naive girl again.

I want him,
My body aches for him,
My soul needs him.
But, my head will be damned to fall for that again,
Fall for X.

He stole my heart before,
But not this tyme.

ACK!

img_20160416_154323That makes me feel like the cartoon Cathy, lol. I was heading to bed when I realize I was so busy writing, (#amwriting) I forgot my blog post for Saturday morning! So here I am, midnight, writing my post.

The house was quiet when I got home. My hubby had to go to work at 6:00 pm tonight. I get off work at 6:00 pm so we didn’t see each other. It is a rare day anymore that I get to go home to a quiet house. I took advantage of it and wrote! I have 30 pages to go to polish up A Dragon’s Treasure and I’ll be sending it off to an editor.

So, exciting times! I love my dragon books more than the rest, lol. Sad, but true!

On the home front, though, my drywall man cancelled on me! I found another who will be coming out tomorrow for an estimate. He also said he can start on Monday. I have less than 2 weeks before the girls move back home! I just hope it won’t break my pocket book!

suzy-brileighYou can see the fun we’ll have with these two.brileigh1

Bri loves to copy cat, lol. She is happy to make animal sounds and her pig snort cracks us all up. We’re looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time!

I have no clue how I will find time to write with the little munchkin in the house. I’ll probably have to sneak off somewhere. Or lock myself in a room. But after I had my pituitary tumor removed, I decided that family has to come first!

It always had, but sometimes the time was grudgingly given! You never know how much time you have and I’d like to spend it with the ones I love. (That gave me a bit of a scare!)

Now I just have to get back out to see my son in California. He’s a Marine and loves it, so he isn’t close to home. But that is okay. He has his life to live and we chat on Facebook and text.

nick-suzy-brileigh We did see him this summer for our niece’s wedding. It may be another year before we visit him again. We’ll have to see! But first, I have to get the house done!

Combining two households into one is not going to be fun! Especially when I haven’t been able to take any time off. The only days I’ve had off, I’ve ended up babysitting. Fun but it doesn’t make the house any cleaner!

So on that note, I’m heading to bed! I’m up bright and early tomorrow to clean and get that estimate!

Just remember, if you can be a unicorn, be a unicorn! Be yourself and be unique! See, I’m a unicorn, lol.

img_20150925_192609

Another Saturday already!

I actually managed some writing this week!

Got a little bit of A Dragon’s Treasure done and started a bit of a new manuscript. I’ll see if it goes anywhere. Sometimes I’ll write a bit and table it for the future. Or it will end up in another story all together as I find it fits there.

I have a huge folder like that, lol.

Here’s a bit of A Dragon’s Treasure. Mind you, it is unedited! At least by anyone other than me.

dragon-1940366_1280

His dragon wanted her, desired her and was demanding he keep her safe. He knew she would be if she became his.

“Mate me.” A moan was his only reply. His chest swelled at the glow on her body, the satiated look on her face. “Mate me.”

“I can’t, not yet.” Coldness spread from his heart. He withdrew, sliding out of her warmth and the truck. He stood, staring at her. Kai needed to understand why.

“Why not?” A sigh was his answer as Connie sat up, pulling her bra and top down with a curse as she struggled to pull it over her breasts. Kai eyed her, enjoying the pink tipped treats as they disappeared from view.

“I just can’t. I’m waiting.”

“Waiting for what? You are my mate. Why should we wait?” Connie’s nostrils flared as she listened to him. Kai knew the impatience he felt was evident in his voice just by the look on her face.

“Move. Out of my way.” Connie was scrambling to get her bottoms on as she slid across the seat. “I don’t have to explain myself. You don’t own me.” She pushed him aside, grabbing her pants and sliding them on. “When I’m ready I’ll let you know. With that attitude, it will be a good long while.” She snapped her pants, adjusting them around her tiny waist. Even that sounded pissed.

Kai ground his teeth and let her go. He wasn’t sure exactly why she was in a snit. Connie had been a bit secretive lately but that could have something to do with the wedding they were planning. He truly wasn’t pushing as hard as he could be. Kai could just take her and make her his mate without her permission but he didn’t want to be in her bad graces. Kai was pretty sure that would not be a very good idea.

He’d have to let her come to him. Dragon’s just were not patient, especially fire dragons like him. Their passions ran as hot as the flames that ran through them. If he changed her and she was pissed, he wasn’t sure that he would want to face her.

His eyes followed her to the house. Despite everything, Kai could feel the danger closing in. If he didn’t change her before the danger arrived and she was injured or killed, he would never forgive himself. But he couldn’t force the mating on her, Connie had to submit of her own free will.

****

Connie knew she was being unreasonable as her feet hit the steps of the porch with loud stomps. Kai wasn’t asking anything that she wasn’t asking herself. She needed to sit down and talk with him. He just overwhelmed her sometimes.

“Connie, you got mail.” Ellen sounded excited as she handed it to her. Connie looked at the address. It was from UW. Taking a deep breath, Connie opened it and started reading. She looked up at Ellen. “Well? What did it say?”

“Ellen.” Connie looked at her, trying to stay calm. Hell with it she thought. “I got in!” She ran toward Ellen and started jumping up and down as they hugged and laughed. “I got in! Oh, my God! I can’t believe it!”

I hope you like it! It is coming closer to the end. Then an editor. I just have to have the time! I have a drywaller coming this week to finish up the bedroom I’m working on. Then next week I’ll be able to paint and start moving in. That will entail going through 23 years of junk from my bedroom. *whine* Not to mention the leftovers from my kids in their rooms!

Well, I’m off to babysit the adorable granddaughter! Have a good Saturday! If you’re looking for something to read, check out my author page at Amazon!

Writing? I’m trying!

I haven’t had as much time to write as I’d like! My daughter and granddaughter are moving back in with us. I’ve been busy tearing down plaster and prepping a room for drywall. You can see my progress. This was the first wall!

16231013_380845968942558_8740038592279085056_n Then I moved around the room. My house was 100+ years when we bought it 23 years ago!16124273_261117930987371_9210772058802225152_n

Here you can see me in all my gear! Even with the PPE (personal protective equipment) I still had dust and bruises all over me from falling plaster! I looked like I had been beaten by elves!

Behind me you can see where the door used to be. We moved it years ago to put a second bathroom in the house.16230554_679875265526571_7224255753467461632_n

The most dangerous part was the ceiling. That’s why I bought and wore the hardhat. Unfortunately they didn’t have breast plates! Never had I had so many bruises on that part of my body, lol.

You can see the progress! The door and window trims have all been taken down and stripped. The floor molding will have to be done in place. It was put on with three inch nails that aren’t moving! I’ll be working on that today, along with calling a drywall man to see when he can come in and complete it.

You can see the ceiling, windows and two of the walls! I’m leaving the lathe in place as it is heck to get down! I had to remove it in our bathroom, but never again! It will just add another layer of insulation. I’m good with that.

You can see how filthy I am at the end of the day! Mind you, this is after putting in at least 8 hours at my regular job and another 2-3 hours working on the bedroom. I definitely won’t be using this as my author photo, lol!

Since I have about 2 weeks before they move back in, I need to finish this room asap! My books are on a holding pattern. Even if I’m not happy about it, family has to come first. Repairing this room will give the girls the two biggest rooms. My husband and I will be moving into the room we’re redoing. The smallest bedroom at 15 x 13, it is still a good size. Not to mention it gets the best sunlight in the house!

So, once they are back home, I’ll be able to get on with my writing. I’m close to completing the edits I want on A Dragon’s Treasure and then I’ll send it off to a professional editor while I hunt down a cover. I’m hoping for a March release but realistically, it will probably be April.

Hope your Saturday isn’t as busy or as dirty as mine will be!
