Dragons are here! A Dragon’s Treasure is live!

A dragon’s most desired treasure is his mate, but what if she didn’t want to be?

A Dragon’s Treasure

Kai has been hunting for his mate for a very long time. Drawn to a singular place on earth, filled with treasures, he still seeks the greatest treasure of them all. His mate.

Fleeing danger, Connie runs into the arms of destiny, but she has plans already, and a Dragon mate is not on the agenda.

Kai has waited centuries for Connie, and he will claim his mate. Patience may not be a Dragon’s virtue, but he always gets his treasure.

Sparks fly in this humorous erotic tale of mating and mayhem.

Excerpt:

“What is up with the sniffing?” She sounded aggravated.

“What do you mean?”

“You sniffed me, Lou sniffed me, and the doc sniffed me. I took a shower! So, what the heck is going on?”

Kai grinned, a laugh rumbling out of his chest. Eyes spitting fire at him, Connie shoved at him to push him away. He didn’t budge. Kai grabbed her hands, one large hand pinning them down against the car and leaned down to kiss her. He took his time, tracing her soft lips with his tongue before plunging his inside to taste her sweetness. Her flavor burst on his tongue.

Connie struggled at first, and then tilted her head, opening her mouth to further exploration. He deepened the kiss, the softness of her mouth addicting.

Kai released her hands and pulled Connie up against him. Her arms slipped around his neck pulling him down as he pulled her up. Kai ran his hands up and down her back, pulling her legs around his waist. He rumbled. The feel of her curvy body against him drove him crazy. He moved, the denim constricting his erection. His dragon surfaced, wanting to claim her. He pulled her tighter against him, nestling his cock between the warmth he could feel emanating from between her legs. Kai rubbed against her, seeking relief. He wanted nothing more than to burst free and enter that sanctuary his denim denied him.

Updates!

Stealing Hope CoverWell, first action, Stealing Hope will be coming down by tomorrow. If you haven’t read it, don’t worry, it will be going back up. My rights are reverting back to me and it is supposed to be off retailers (Zon and publishers) effective tomorrow. At that point only the paperback will be available.

After that it will be going up however on all retailers, not just Amazon. It will just take me a little bit to get the errors corrected. (I found a couple of typos!) Then it will be going up again. Give me a month or just a bit less. I want to make sure none of my royalties go to my previous publisher.

It will also be available for $2.99 in ebook when it goes back up. And yes, that will be permanent. So that’s another good thing!

Now, I’m behind on my edits for A Dragon’s Treasure so February is not looking good! But it is coming. I don’t have a cover yet and I still need to send it to an editor. (I’m still self editing before I send it out!) That all takes time. Since I have a day job that has me working 8 -10 hours a day, writing isn’t as easy as you’d think. Neither is coordinating it all!

So, here’s the anticipated lineup for the year:

Stealing Hope

A Dragon’s Treasure (stand alone)

Finding Faith (since the dragon’s fated heart series is back in my control! yay!)

Her Savior in Camouflage (but I have to change the name! I never spell camouflage right. Thank goodness for spell checker!) the Santiago’s book 3

The first book in the Windy City Dragon’s series (Juneish – We still don’t have a title! Tamara Hoffa and I are writing this)

Willow’s Cry

Whew! Let’s hope I can keep to that schedule! I’m also looking at maybe a short or two. I run on tangents and when I can’t seem to find the right words on one story, I turn to another. Plus, I’m fond on my shorts! I like something I can read during lunch. I sure hope you do to!

In the mean time, feel free to catch up with my other books!

You can find all of them here from my Amazon author page:

https://www.amazon.com/Beverly-Ovalle/e/B00BOGT8MU/

But my books are also all available on iBook, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Scribd and 24 Symbols.

All ready breaking my New Year’s Resolution!

20170106_213331I only managed to write for 2 days this week. The picture is hard to see, but I bruised my shoulder and elbow. It’s an icky green from the elbow bone and going to my wrist! I was crossing a street at night, on a hill and hit a patch of ice. Landed on my right shoulder, elbow and hip. Wrenched my back and my neck.

Soooo… I can only type for short periods of time without my arm aching. I about scream if I hit my elbow. It sure puts a kink in my writing! I’ve been editing A Dragon’s Treasure and I can’t really use my dragon (a talk to text program) for that. Since my resolution was to write at least 3 days a week, I obviously can’t get much done!

Nothing was broken, but bruised all to heck!

Here’s a peek at the beginning of A Dragon’s Treasure. I can’t guarantee that it won’t change! I changed it a half a dozen times so far! So, here is the current version:

Kai was so tired. A dragon’s most desired treasure was his mate. Kai shifted, stirring the treasures he’d collected around him. He was still waiting for his. The musical tinkle of the shifting coins beneath him echoing throughout the chamber. He sighed. Just a hint of smoke came with it.

Long before the settles arrived here, Kai had established his lair in the rich and verdant land that called to his soul. Rich in coal and gold, it had called to his dragon, enticing him. Kai rumbled, his gut churning. He shot out flames, relieving the ache in his stomach. They licked the walls, adding to the shine. His flame over the centuries had formed the walls surrounding his hoard into diamonds. It didn’t stop the longing in his soul.

Kai scratched at the gold beneath him, his claws digging in. Tension filled him. Normally burrowing into his gold helped. Today? Not so much.

Kai had been alone for longer than he cared to think about. Too long. He needed a mate. He ached to find her, love her. He knew she would come here. He didn’t know how or why, but Kai was sure of this. He’d travelled extensively, but what dragon hasn’t? It used to be move on or be killed. Those days were long past once shifters started coming out.

Dragons were eyed warily when they finally stepped out of the realms of legend. The last group of shifters to make themselves known to man. Too many shifters had been exterminated when they disclosed their existence. Dragons had lived too long to not be wary of man. Unlike most shifters, rumors of dragons had existed since man began to walk. Little did they realize Dragons walked among them.

Kai’s heart ached. He’d lost his parents more than two centuries past. Superstition and hate were a powerful motive. Bounties on the lives of dragons, sent fool hardy hunters after them. His mother had been caught unaware, pierced through the heart by a crossbow.

His father had gone berserk. His revenge against the hunters bloody. Kai burrowed deeper into his pile, anger gripping him. His father had been paraded around the village, head hacked from his body and displayed on a pike. He breathed deep, releasing a stream of steam that rose from between the coins. He ground his teeth, remembering.

He missed them.

Kai and his siblings had eradicated the village. He rumbled, eyes gleaming. The satisfaction of seeing his parent’s murderers plead for mercy was a balm to his soul. The blood had flowed, their bodies torn apart. Kai swallowed, the metallic taste of their blood one he wouldn’t forget. The repercussions had torn the siblings apart. Forced to flee and separate to save themselves, Kai had rarely seen them since.

Excerpt

She heard the radio crackle as she entered. It was never silent. Sick bay kept it going just in case they were needed. There wasn’t always a Marine around to send to run to get a corpsman in case of a serious injury. The sound of gunshots echoed as a Marine screamed into the open channel.

“Fuck! Medic! Man down!”

Ignoring Schuster, Angel cursed and ran past the Marines in the waiting room, grabbing her bag as she headed out following the unnecessary directions where help was needed. She just followed the gunshots as she headed outside followed by the contents of sick bay as the Marine’s in there shouldered their ever present rifles and followed. Injured or not, they didn’t back down from a fight. Especially if one of their own was hurt. Angel knew there would be no mercy from them.

Breathing heavy and swearing she’d start working out more, Angel slid to the corner of a building nearest the fire fight. Enemy fire had the Marines pinned down and she could see one wounded Marine with another trying to stop the bleeding. The Marines that had followed her gestured, moving into position to lay cover fire so she could reach their fallen comrade.

Her blood thrummed, pounding in her ears as her eyes darted looking for the safest way to make her way forward. Taking a deep breath Angel darted, using what cover she could, zigzagging her way to the Marine that needed her.

Sliding in next to the wounded Marine she pushed her way in, her bag already open and ready. She shuddered as a zap of electricity raced from her hands to her heart.

“Help me roll this on until we can get him out of here.”

Without looking she knew the Marine trying to staunch the blood. Santiago. Saint as he was known by his fellow Marines. Ignoring the pounding of her heart she got to work trying to save Perez as Santiago assisted as best he could.

“Cover! Grenade incoming!”

Angel didn’t have time to respond before her breath was forced from her, flattened by Santiago who was heavier than she expected. God damned Santiago had shoved her forward onto Perez. She only hoped she hadn’t hurt him worse and then her world exploded.

White-hot pain seared through her. Angel’s heart seized, her breath caught in her lungs. A burning sensation tore across her body. She forgot about Perez and Santiago, her world narrowed to the screaming nerve endings in her body. Gulping in air, the high-pitched screaming stopped and she realized it was coming from her. Angel looked up into the regretful eyes of Santiago.

“Saint.” The whisper escaped her lips. Overcome, the pain indescribable, Angel grasped his arm and darkness over took her.

Bio

Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a _mg_amazon-authorstory to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she’d always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back.

Beverly has been obsessed with dragons and romance since she was a young girl, collecting dragon books and reading everything she could find on them even down to the care of real life dragons. She’s always been slightly panicked that the world as we know it will end, so has prepped for it, haunting survivalist pages and prepper projects she felt she needed in the event SHTF.

An avid fan of all romance, Beverly’s goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them.

A Navy Veteran, Beverly has traveled around the world and the United States enabling her to bring her settings to life, meeting and marrying her husband of twenty five years along the way for her own romance. Reading romances since the fourth grade she’s followed as the genre changed and spread into the vast cornucopia of romance offered today.

Lightning Strike ~ part 2

Here is the next tidbit. Head on back next Saturday for more!
LightningStrike_fullresHe carefully lifted her and moved her to his sleeping bag. She was light as a feather. Levi zipped the bag up around her to keep her warm and to keep his gaze away. He pulled off his shirt, stuffing it under her head to cushion her from the ground. He wiped her face with some of his bottled water and a washcloth. He checked his first aid kit, but realized the items he had wouldn’t help, consisting mostly of band-aids and alcohol pads. He was prepared for wounds, not burns, though she didn’t appear to have either.

Unable to do more for the unconscious woman, Levi stayed near her. She was small, but then most women and even men seemed small to him. He stood over six feet in height, which had always made him stand out. He brushed his hand over her hair, pushing it back from her face. She had to have been hit by the same lightning bolt that hit the tree. Her hair was a multi-hued chestnut, singed at the edges. She was lucky, but then again, she had yet to awaken. He had not detected any head wounds, but without anything other than his hands to check, he could not be sure.

As he ran his hand over her hair checking to be sure he had not missed any damage to her head, she stirred. Levi looked down into leaf green eyes. He could see the confusion on her face.

“How are you feeling?” She gazed at him, dazed, obviously not understanding. “You were hit by a lightning bolt. It’s a good thing you weren’t killed.” A dawning look of understanding came over her face. “What were you doing in the tree?”

She opened her mouth, nothing came out but a strangled sound. Levi grabbed the water bottle, put an arm under her shoulders and carefully lifted her up and gave her a drink. As he poured some water into her mouth, her arms came up to hold the bottle. Levi tried not to stare as he relinquished it to her. When she reached up, she had dislodged the sleeping bag, her pert breasts moving in time to her swallowing. The sleeping bag had instead pooled across the tops of her thighs, giving him a glimpse of a treasure barely hidden.

Levi swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. He held her as she slowly sipped. He couldn’t help but stare. Her skin was golden brown, even toned across her body. Her nipples were a dark raspberry brown, pebbled in the slight breeze. Levi hardened uncomfortably, his erection growing, pressing painfully against the tight denim of his jeans. He wanted a taste of the sweet looking chocolate. But that wouldn’t be right. She needed his help.

“Where did you come from? Where are you staying?” She didn’t answer him, looking at him with her big green eyes as she continued to drink. He continued anyway. “Is your camp site near here? Is there anyone you need me to call?”

She lowered the water bottle from her mouth and stretched, arching back across his arm, raising her breasts within inches of his mouth and groaned. He shook himself to attention. She was injured. He needed to reign in his lust. Her stretch had dislodged the sleeping bag even more. He swallowed. He could see her secrets, bare to his eyes. Her jewel, pink and luscious, peeked out from between her thighs. Her lips were plump, pinker than her nipples with just a hint of chocolate. Levi throbbed, wanting nothing more than to taste her sweetness. “Where does it hurt?” His voice was raspy, his tone deeper as he tried to ignore his arousal.

“My side hurts a little. My skin feels tingly all over.” Her voice was as soft as a whisper in the wind, intoxicating his senses. Levi leaned down, unconsciously tightening his arm, bringing her closer to the protection of his body. Everything about her called to something inside of him. She pointed to her left side stretching and twisting over his arm as he held her close while she tried to show him. He slid his other arm around her hip, to keep her from rolling off the arm that held her up.

“That’s the side you landed on when you fell out of the tree.” She twisted toward him, putting her arms around his neck and pulling his face down as she wiggled around moving up on his chest. Her breast grazed his face, a pebbled nipple running across his lip as she stretched before settling against him with what sounded like an annoyed huff when he didn’t cooperate and bend over. Now both naked breasts pressed against his chest. He got even harder, his cock throbbing painfully against his jeans.

“Check me. Am I hurt?” The breathiness of her voice wound through Levi, tightening his groin and his heart.

“You look okay.” His answer was gruff, Levi was battling his lust against what he knew was right.

“How can you be sure? Shouldn’t you touch me to check?” He groaned. He could feel his erection, the tip leaking and now peeking out the top of his jeans. Her hands slid down his chest as she wiggled down again, seeming secure with his arms holding her up. A nipple grazed the tip of his cock as she squirmed around. Surely she could feel it too. He could feel her skin warm against him, his body seeking hers, his hands holding her steady, trying not to clench her to him.

“You aren’t bleeding. I checked earlier and you didn’t appear to have any broken bones.” He held steadfast, trying not to run his hands over the silkiness of her skin. He knew it wouldn’t take much to break him, especially if he had to run his hands over her warm and evidently willing body again. “Where did you come from? Are you camping near here?”

“But I can tell you if it hurts now.” Ignoring his questions she moved closer, though he hadn’t thought it possible. “Please, will you check?” He nodded grimly, unable to resist her plea, his desire strangling him. The silky skin of her body tore at his control as she wiggled closer against his chest.

Levi’s life changes in an instant when lightning strikes, tumbling Daphnaie into his arms as he becomes her savior and she becomes his every dream.

3d rendering of a young woman who dances in the dark, mystical forest as illustration

Lightning Strike

The edge of the storm passed, clouds skimming across the sky, racing away as if chased. Intermittent flashes of lightning changing them from grey to silver as they left. Levi leaned over his camera to take one final picture as the storm moved away and was rewarded with a spectacular burst of lightning, a totally unexpected, once in a lifetime shot. Levi hit the shutter release as he was looking through the lens of his camera when the lightning bolt suddenly struck the tree in front of him, a final vindictive parting shot at the resilience of the trees that had bent but not broken in the face of the storm. Blue fire shot out from the bottom of the tree and spread in a circle around the trunk. The trunk glowed red, the leaves remained untouched, pristine, though a few fell, joining the damp, decayed ones around the base of the trunk. In the blink of an eye the lightning retreated.

Levi blinked, blinded. Stunned, he quickly looked away from his camera. It had been set up far enough away to not get damaged. He blinked away the flash of the lightning still in his sight like a black and white echo. He could smell the burnt grass and ozone in the air. He knew he was lucky he hadn’t been hit by the strike.

Levi had set up his camera for some shots in the glen his grandpa always talked about, wanting to capture just a little more than a quick click of the camera. The backdrop of the storm against the trees as the wind whipped their branches into a frenzy showed the strength and resilience of Mother Nature, enchanting him. He’d put his camera up on a tripod and had set up a time exposure shot, sure the storm would provide some of the photos he was well known for.

His grandpa was always saying this was a sacred glen, much to his grandmother’s fury. Levi wanted to see if he could prove it. He was hoping to immortalize the reason his family had protected this land for so long. Grandmother was insisting on selling, calling his grandpa a silly old fool and the fighting was tearing his grandparents and the rest of his family apart. He had come up with their blessing, both sure that the result would be in their favor.

Levi had set up his campsite, making sure not to damage anything in the glen just like his grandpa has told him. No tent, just a sleeping bag that was still attached to his discarded knapsack to keep him warm, a propane cook stove and cooler. Grandpa had been insistent that Levi burn no wood. When the storm came Levi was regretting the fact he had no tent, but the edge of the storm had missed the glen and his campsite, instead playing in the trees and the mountains beyond.

Levi’s photos always had a way of showing truths the naked eye couldn’t see. That was one of the reasons both of his grandparents had agreed to him coming here. He had started photography when he was a medic in the Army, taking photos of the aftermath of Iraqi Freedom. Unable to stomach more death and destruction, and desperately needing a peace he couldn’t find, he finished his enlistment. He published the photography that exposed so much of the war, earning almost instant fame. But it didn’t bring him peace. He turned to photographing nature around the world, his treks into the wilds of the world bringing him a measure of what he sought.

He couldn’t wait to see the photo. Wanting to capture the aftermath of the strike, he looked through the lens in preparation for another shot. He thought he saw movement. He straightened up, no longer looking through the lens. Levi saw a figure fall, he swore from the damaged bark of the tree itself. He hadn’t seen anyone in the tree, but then again he hadn’t been paying attention to anything but the deadly beauty of nature.

Moving swiftly to the base of the tree, he found a crumpled heap in the shape of a person. Reaching for the slight arm sticking out from the pile of decaying and burnt leaves, Levi knelt, feeling for a pulse. A faint heartbeat reassured him that the person was alive. Levi brushed away the fallen leaves that surrounded the figure. To his surprise it was a young woman and she was naked. Stunned, Levi stared at her for a moment. His heartbeat quickened. He had seen no evidence of anyone else around. In any case, this was private property as far as the eye could see. From the mountains to the prairie, his family called this land theirs even if none of them lived there any longer.

Shaking sense back into his head, Levi took out his cellphone to make an emergency call, wishing he had brought his satellite phone. The connection was bad this far into the mountains. Getting a recording, he tried giving his location, hoping his message got through and help was on its way. Hanging up, he looked at her, wondering what she was doing there.

Levi thought the lightning had burned her clothes away, though there was really no evidence of clothing to begin with. She couldn’t have just been out in the woods with nothing on. Climbing trees no less! Her skin looked as if it had been in contact with fire, yet she herself was not burned, just slightly pink, most of the damage to her hair, which looked as if it had burned around the edges.

The lightning strike had been different, but then so had the storm. Both had seemed almost alive, deliberate. Maybe his grandpa had been right after all.

Leaving her for a moment, Levi took his sleeping bag from his knapsack and laid it out beyond the fire damaged grass, making sure to unzip it to be able to put her in it. Checking her limbs, he didn’t feel any breaks. He tried not to notice how shapely those limbs were.

Ignoring his libido, Levi checked her over as he had been trained. It didn’t matter how long he had been away from the battlefield, Levi’s instincts kicked in, checking the vitals of the wounded woman in front of him. It was usually a man though, his thoughts drifting to the images he’d rather forget. Forcibly bringing his mind back to the present, Levi continued his assessment. She needed him now. An undressed female was bound to present him unexpected problems. An attractive female, as this little bundle was, presented a whole different problem that was knocking insistently at the buttons of his 501’s.

Yikes! I was tired! A quick summary & giveaway

My post last Saturday left A LOT to be desired, lol. I posted 2 pictures, no explanation!

Here’s how vacation went. DH & I decided on a road trip. We love those and it’s been years since we did one. We went 2000 miles, all the way to California. We stopped, puttered around, and had a good time. We stopped in Phoenix AZ for 2 nights. Slept at my parents vacation house and visited with my brother, SIL and one of my nephews. The other? Who knows! He was in the wind.

We picked up our daughter and granddaughter who flew in to AZ and finished the drive to CA with us.

In Cali we stayed with our son and his fiancee. He looked so grown up in his Marine uniform as he went to work. *sniffle*

We attended our niece’s wedding in La Jolla. It was a beautiful setting overlooking the ocean. Look how colorful we all were! (Don’t ask what happened to my hair! We tried straightening it-Not a good look on me!)

(Nicholas, Edmond, Beverly, Susannah, Brileigh)

The pics from last week were from his fiancee’s, Celia’s, work. A Pirates Adventure in Anaheim. We had a ball and the food was excellent, even with my granddaughters fingers all through it, lol.

We did the tourist thing down there in San Diego, Sea World (I about gagged at the prices! If you go buy the tickets online. They are much cheaper that way!) and the San Diego Zoo. I bought lots of poop paper bookmarks, lol. Prizes for Cards Against Humanity at MBLU. I never want to walk again though! My feet were protesting. Heading back up to LA, we went to Huntington Beach, got burnt and spent time with the family.

THEN – road trip home.

I felt like ground meat by the time we got back.

I arrived home in time to leave for a book signing in Madison WI.

I need a vacation from vacation!

Tell me about your last vacation in comments to win a bag & swag from the book signing. (I have to limit it to US only – sorry. I’m still trying to get my last international prize out, we can’t find the country!)
