Blurb:

Lee Santiago went from one mistake to the next. When a friend dies, exposing his mortality all too well Lee’s family steps in to force him to make something of himself. He can’t be a party boy all his life and if he wants to sign his life away, it will be on the dotted line. He doesn’t even have time to say goodbye. Anyway it was only a drunken one night stand.

Isabelle was always the good girl. Until that night. When the man she’d always worshiped finally noticed her. She couldn’t say no. She’s heartsick to find out he doesn’t remember it. Isabelle’s life crashes around her when the results are in. The truth comes out and she has nowhere to turn. She looks for Lee, but he’s gone.

Will he be man enough to step up and face the consequences when he learns the truth?

Excerpt (G):

“Lenny, my man. Alejandro loaned me his car and I wanted to hit Dead Man’s Curve. You up for some fun today? Call me back, dude.”

Closing his phone he stared at it. He willed his phone to ring. Len never left him hanging. They’d been tight for as long as he could remember. A sick feeling twisted in his stomach. He had to know the truth. He dialed the number that they’d only used in emergencies.

It rang and rang. Not good. Lee was getting ready to hang up when it was answered.

“Hola.”

He’d never heard her like that, voice deep and raw.

“Mrs. R. It’s Lee. Can I talk to Len?”

She burst out crying, deep sobs that tore from her gut.

“Mrs. Rodriguez. What’s the matter?”

“Who is this? What did you say?” The phone had changed hands. Mr. Rodriguez answered, his voice hoarse.

“Mr. R. It’s Lee Santiago. I just asked to talk to Lenny. He didn’t answer his phone. I drove by the house earlier.” Lee could hear the tremble in his own voice. “The police were there. Is Lenny okay?”

Lenny was his best bro. He had to be okay. Lee would be lost without him.

“Oh God, Lee.” Lee could hear the heaviness in his voice. “Lenny’s dead. We came home early and found him on the couch. We thought he was asleep.”

Lee squeezed his phone. It couldn’t be true.

“No. He was fine last night. Laughing and joking.”

“The police think it was a drug overdose.”

Lee was silent, heart aching and gut churning.

“Lee, did you hear me?”

“Yes.”

“Lenny didn’t do drugs. He didn’t do drugs, right Lee?”

Lee couldn’t answer. Lenny had started running with a harder crowd lately. His throat felt raw. How could he respond? He didn’t really know for sure.

“Answer me, Lee.”

“Mr. R.” Lee swallowed. “I don’t know. Some of the people he knew…” He drew in a deep breath. “Some of the people he knew weren’t so good.”

The line was silent. He could hear Mr. R’s breathing and Mrs. Rodriguez crying in the background. He leaned his head on the steering wheel. A tremor shook his body. He just knew what was coming.

“Will you tell the police what you know, Lee? Please. Lenny was your best friend.”

His gut clenched. He knew it. What could he say? No? Yes? Lenny was his best friend. Sometimes his only friend. If he told what he suspected, he might as well pick out his gravesite. Hell, his mom already had it. He’d be planted next to Papa, pushing up the roses.

“I don’t know.” He drew in a ragged breath and swallowed. “Maybe.”

“What went on last night, Lee? Was there a party here? The place is trashed.”

Lee could hear him crying. A hopeless sound that twisted his heart. Mr. R had stepped in when Lee’s dad had died years ago, taking him under his wing. How could he say no?

“Yeah, there was a party. I was on my way over to help Lenny clean up when I saw the cops.”

“Why didn’t you come over?”

Lee swallowed and leaned his head back against the seat.

“I didn’t want to hear what you just told me.”

“The police will want to question you. They need to find out what went on last night.”

Lee swallowed and nodded. He squeezed his eyes shut. The damp tracks on his cheeks were drying in the heat leaving his skin tight.

Excerpt (R):

“I’ve never seen you at a party before. I thought you were a good little girl.” His teasing voice sent thrills throughout her body.

“Today’s my birthday.” Isabelle snuggled closer to him. His body seemed to surround hers.

“So, does that make you legal today?”

Isabelle nodded vigorously then groaned. Her head swam from the movement. Maybe, just maybe she’d had a bit much to drink. Lee would take care of her though. He’d promised.

“But not legal for drinking yet.”

Isabelle pouted then sniffed.

“So what? Most of the people here aren’t twenty-one.”

“Doesn’t make it right.”

Isabelle craned her head around to look at him. Surprised at the hard note in his voice.

“But you’ve been drinking since you were in high school.”

“Again, doesn’t make it right. So, you decided to cut loose now that you’re an adult?”

The small smirk at the side of his mouth fascinated her. Somehow the tip of her finger made its way there. His lips were strong but soft, warm against the softness of her finger. The scruff around his mouth prickled her finger as he rubbed his face against it.

“Don’t play with fire, little girl.” He nipped the tip of her finger as he winked at her, sending a zing through her body.

Isabelle giggled. Normally she thought herself out of Lee’s league, but tonight that didn’t bother her in the least. She’d had too many jello shots to care. Snuggled in his arms, his hands on her affected her more than any bit of alcohol could. Combining them gave her a warm glow.

Isabelle wiggled, the trail of his fingertips tickling her neck and circling her ear. She could feel her nipples tightening, glad for her push up bra. It made her boobs look fabulous, but was thick enough to hide her body’s reaction.

Lee chuckled in her ear, sending warmth pooling low in her belly. Isabelle caught her breath as he trailed his finger down her breast unerringly circling her nipple.

“Cat got your tongue, little girl?”

His warm breath in her ear, followed by a flick of his tongue had her gasping. She shifted, wiggling, trying to relieve the ache building in her. Lee pulled her closer, positioning her across one leg. One hand held her tightly by the hip. The other skimmed the top of her camisole dipping in to tease her nipple.

Isabelle gasped at the sensation. “Lee.” She didn’t know if she was encouraging or warning him away.

He chuckled, stroking her nipple until it stood out, obvious to anyone that bothered to look. He lowered his head, bending Isabelle over his arm as he nibbled her through her shirt. With a tug he pulled it aside exposing her breast before quickly sucking it into his mouth.

“Ah.” Isabelle arched offering herself to the warm suction of his mouth. She caught her breath, liquid heat pooling between her legs with each pull. Her toes curled. The noise of the party disappearing, all her senses focused on the sensations swirling in her body.

“Beautiful.” His voice muffled as he nursed.

Author bio:

Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a story to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she’d always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back.

Beverly has been obsessed with dragons and romance since she was a young girl, collecting dragon books and reading everything she could find on them even down to the care of real life dragons. She’s always been slightly panicked that the world as we know it will end, so has prepped for it, haunting survivalist pages and prepper projects she felt she needed in the event SHTF.

An avid fan of all romance, Beverly’s goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them.

A Navy Veteran, Beverly has traveled around the world and the United States enabling her to bring her settings to life, meeting and marrying her husband of twenty five years along the way for her own romance. Reading romances since the fourth grade she’s followed as the genre changed and spread into the vast cornucopia of romance offered today.
