Blurb:

Only fifty years left before vampires rule the world.

When Dallas police detective Cami Davis joined the city’s vampire unit, she planned to use the job as a stepping-stone to a better position in the department.

But she didn’t know then what she knows now: there’s a silent war raging between humans and vampires, and the vampires are winning.

So with the help of a disaffected vampire and an ex-cop addict, Cami is going undercover, determined to solve a series of recent murders, discover a way to overthrow the local Sanguinary government, and, in the process, help win the war for the human race.

But can she maintain her own humanity in the process? Or will Cami find herself, along with the rest of the world, pulled under a darkness she cannot oppose?

Excerpt:

“Hey, Bradley.” I beckoned the crime-scene tech, who had finally arrived and was snapping on gloves. “Is that a piece of paper under the vic’s head?”

He bent down over my shoulder to get a clearer view from my line of sight. “Looks like it’s tangled in her hair,” he said. He pulled a pair of long tweezers out of his kit and snagged the sliver. “Yep. Looks like it has a word written on it . . .” We both peered at the brownish, spidery writing.

“Sanguinary,” I said. “Is that written in blood?”

“Maybe. I’ll get the lab to run a basic analysis on it. If it’s blood, we’ll be able to let you know pretty quick if it’s human and if so, what type. DNA will take longer.”

“Sounds good.” I stared at the woman a little longer. Her dark hair—almost the same color as mine—spilled out around her, matted with dark, coagulating blood. The two bloody marks on her neck shone like black stars on a white background.

Vampire.

I knew that if I lifted her dress, there would be other puncture wounds all over the body, and strange symbols carved across her skin—pentagrams within circles and other ritualistic signs. Exactly like the others. Ten murders in the four weeks since the beginning of September—all centered in downtown Dallas, and many with affluent victims whose families demanded action.

The department had been in a barely suppressed uproar.

I stood up, my knees popping a little. Five years ago, they wouldn’t have done that.

And five years before that? Vampires hadn’t existed, except in books and B-movies.

It took time for the world to believe. We hadn’t even realized how to fight back when they’d first shown up.

This victim’s ragged, bloody fingernails suggested that she had tried to resist, but obviously failed.

The red dress she wore would have originally matched the color of the relatively scant splashes of blood surrounding her, but those stains had dried to a muddy brown, the same color as the writing on the paper caught in her hair.

Her clothing suggested that she’d been at the opera that evening, though the manager, roused from her bed, swore that the building had been cleared and empty when she left.

One black, high-heel shoe lay several feet away, toppled over onto its side, the heel broken, as if she had stumbled out of it when it failed her as she ran from a pursuer.

Sanguinary.

I’d heard the word before from vampires I had taken down—whispered as a threat, shouted as a warning: the Sanguinary is coming, the Sanguinary will kill you all.

The Sanguinary is here.

It was why I was about to go undercover among the vampires.

 MargoBondCollinsAuthor Interview:

When did you start writing? What has your writing life been like?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been making up stories. The first story I remember actually writing down was basically fan-fiction of The Wizard of Oz. I wrote it in long-hand in a yellow legal pad. I’ve been writing ever since. But about ten years ago, a friend suggested I join in National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo.org). Until then, I had always written short stories. That year, I finished the first draft of what would eventually become Legally Undead—it will be my third published novel, but it’s the first one I wrote.

I ended up as an English major in college because I was fascinated by the ways stories work. And then I went on to graduate school because I couldn’t figure out what else to do. I ended up with a Ph.D. in literature almost by accident; I just never quit wanting to learn about all the stories in the world!

So now I teach literature and writing in my day job, and the rest of the time, I write, both as a fiction author and as an academic.

What gave you the idea for this book?

Most of my ideas come to me almost in passing, when I see something that catches my attention. In the case of Sanguinary, it was a color. My husband and I have season tickets to the Dallas Opera, and the interior walls of the Winspear Opera House—the ones that separate the lobby from the theater itself—are a gorgeous dark red. As we were walking out one night, I glanced back and saw that the tint of the outer glass walls turned the inner walls to a blood-red. At the same time, I saw a woman in a dark red dress of the same color. And of course that led to thoughts of vampires and murder (doesn’t that happen with everyone?! Or is it just sicko writers?)—and the story spun out from there.

How often do you write, and how much?

I write something every day, whether it’s academic writing, fiction, or my blog. I’ve recently started making sure that no matter what else I may be writing, I write something fictional every single day. “How much” varies. I aim for a minimum of 500 words a day—my average word-count for thirty minutes of writing. I generally write more than that, but sometimes I don’t quite reach it. Last night, for example, I managed to write one sentence just before I fell into bed. But I made sure to get that one sentence down so I could continue to claim that I write every single day!

Which authors do you admire and why?

Too many to count! Because I’m a literature professor, I have piles and piles of favorite authors. Right now, though, I’m particularly fond of Neil Gaiman, Robin McKinley, Holly Black, Ann Aguirre, and Melanie Karsak. What I love about all of them is their ability to create such realistic worlds, to draw me in and keep me interested in the stories they spin out.

Where do you write and what do you use: PC, laptop or MAC?

I have an office that I use for all my work: academic writing, fiction writing, editing, and online teaching. My desk is against a window so I can see outside. I’m surrounded by books and papers. I write directly on my laptop, but when I get stuck, I sometimes switch to handwriting; this seems to shift my brain onto a different track and helps me get over writer’s block.

What are you working on at the moment?

Piles of projects! I’m currently working on the next entry in my Hometown Heroes series, a contemporary romance novel. I’m working on the sequels to Fairy, Texas, Waking Up Dead and Legally Undead. And I’m working on the next Night Shift book.

What are your writing goals for 2015?

Always keep writing! I have three works in progress that I plan to complete. And I also have two others that I want to get to. So I guess that means my goals are to finish several more novels. (I’m suddenly realizing that I might be insane . . . )

If you could select one book that you could rewrite and add your own unique twist on, which book would that be and why?

Probably a Shakespeare play—they’re just so much fun! Maybe a version of Hamlet with a princess of Denmark instead of a prince?

Any advice for aspiring writers?

The very best advice I ever got was just this: keep writing new things. Always have a work in progress. Finish writing a piece, do a quick edit, and submit it somewhere for publication. Then move on to the next project. Don’t wait to hear back—that way lies madness! If it’s rejected (and often it will be; that’s the nature of writing for publication), don’t let it get you down. Just send it out again and go back to your work in progress.

Thanks so much for having me today!

Griff Montgomery, Quarterback – Character interview

GriffMontgomery_Quarterback_LRG
Hi, Dusty Carpenter here from Sports New Digest. I’m interviewing Griff Montgomery, star quarterback for the Connecticut Kings today, and hero of the kickoff book in the First & Ten series.
Is your love interest the way you pictured him or her?
No, I pictured her naked.
Dusty blushes. “Uh, TMI?”

Do you have any annoying habits your author did not share with us in your book?
Of course, and I’m not going to share them here with you, either.
You don’t have to get huffy, Mr. Montgomery.
Call me Griff. Sorry . Don’t mean to be.

Are you happy with the profession your author chose for you or would you rather be working at something totally different and why?
Football is my life. I love it. Jean did the right thing. I was born to be a gridiron star.

Would you like to be taller, blonder, thinner or smarter than you have been portrayed?
Nope. I’m perfect the way I am. At least my girl thinks so.

Are you planning to make an appearance in a sequel? If not are you unhappy about that?
Of course I am. Jean already told me I’m I all the books in this series and she’d better come across on that promise. I know where she lives.

Now for a personal question. Is there enough sex in the book for you? Would you have liked more?
I’m a man. An athlete. Is there ever enough sex? Get real.

Did you author handle your “love” scenes the way you like or was she too explicit or not explicit enough?
They were okay. But four or five more would have been better. *Chuckles*

Is you’re heroine a good kisser?
The best!

How many re-writes did you have to live through?
Jean told me not to complain about this, but damn! The woman can’t make up her mind! Geez. I thought it was perfect on the first try. But no! She had to edit it to death. I’d have been out on the shelves much sooner if she wasn’t such a stickler.

Did your author listen to you when you tried to redirect her/him?
Jean never listens to anyone. But don’t quote me.
Did your story end too soon?
No, Buddy Carruthers, my wide receiver, was pushy. He couldn’t wait to get his story on paper.

Who was your favorite supporting character?
Spike, of course. You even have to ask? Don’t tell the team. They’ll kill me.

Did you fight much with your author or did you two see eye-to-eye?
No one fights with Jean and wins. I did convince her to change a couple of things and to use profanity. Hell, that’s the way we talk in the locker room!

That’s all the time I have for today. Thank you Mr. Montgomery for your time.
Anytime, honey. You busy Saturday? I’ve got a couple of teammates looking for a hot chick like you.

BLURB

Having sworn off marriage forever, Lauren Farraday barely kept her life together after her divorce. With her career shaky and depression closing in, the last thing she needed was a courtroom battle with a sexy athlete.

Tears of Crimson (2)Blurb-
Tears of Crimson, the New Orleans Vampire Bar.

I was only fifteen the first time he found me. I say he found me because I hadn’t been looking for him… yet there he was when I closed my eyes. When my mother was declared insane, the only person I had left in the world was Granny Louise. Even though she was good to me, I was a target for bullies, ones that were convinced that the apple never fell far from the tree. I was tired of my life, tired of a world that fostered such heartache and pain.

Rafe changed things.

He salvaged what was left of my will to live. Those six years became my lifeline. He opened my eyes to passion, shared a world with me that was so vivid that I could still hear his words in my ears, and the ghost of his touch on my skin when I woke up.

Now that my world has seemingly fallen apart, the only place I can think of going is where my dreams took place- New Orleans. Rafe and I have walked those streets in my fantasies. Somehow, I feel like that’s where I can find my salvation, my purpose.

What frightens me is, now that I’ve stepped in Tears of Crimson, a part of me is starting to believe that some dreams are meant to be lived.

Love Refocused ~ Nancy Corrigan

By: Nancy Corrigan

Sander’s Valley, 2

Wyn Sander is surprised when his brother Kyle asks him to be best man at his wedding. Wyn’s even more shocked to learn the woman who later walks into his garage is Ronnie’s half-sister, Iona. He’s instantly attracted to her. She’s sophisticated, beautiful, and confident. At least she is until Wyn stands up. She flinches and a look of terror passes over her face. It bothers him to see. Luckily, desire replaces it, but it doesn’t stop Wyn’s curiosity. For the first time in his life, he wants to find out what made Iona fearful and fix it.

Iona can’t believe her luck. The man she lusts after is her new sister’s soon to be brother-in-law. The kiss they share shatters her, but her attempt to stop any involvement with him ends up with her agreeing to three dates. She decides Wyn is unlike any man she’s ever known, and it’s unfortunate she can’t enjoy him. She isn’t in the market for a boyfriend. All she wants is sex. The only problem is—she doesn’t think Wyn sees things her way.

Short blurb:

When Wyn sees Iona, he falls hard. Iona’s not so sure—their chemistry is explosive, but after a bad relationship she’s not sure she can commit again.

Excerpt (PG)

Iona knelt next to the whelping box. Her heart raced and hands shook. She glanced over her shoulder. Wyn crouched near her, his gaze on her, not the adorable puppies they’d come to see. Lust simmered in his eyes, but so did curiosity. She got the impression he was judging her. Why, she didn’t have a clue. She’d made it clear her contact with dogs had been hands-off. She’d petted a few. That was it.

“I’m nervous.” Both at the prospect of holding one of the pups and the reason behind his focused study.

“You’ll do fine.”

He laid a hand on her back. The simple touch calmed her. She peeked into the box. Lucy, the puppies’ mother, lay on her side. Her watchful gaze tracked Iona’s every movement. “Are you sure she won’t mind if I hold one?”

“Maybe, but she won’t bite you. Her pups just turned three weeks. It’s time to start holding them. Get them used to humans, you know?”

She nodded, even though she didn’t understand.

Wyn moved closer. His stomach pressed against her bottom. He leaned over her and held a hand out to Lucy. No desire accompanied the brush of his body to hers. Reassurance did. She relaxed. So did the dog. Lucy tilted her head for Wyn’s scratch, and the short nub of her tail wiggled.

Iona laughed. Wyn glanced at her, brows raised and a question in his eyes. She pointed to Lucy’s stump of a tail. “That’s cute.”

He flashed her a half smile. One dimple formed with his grin, and her heart did a little flip. Her lover was devastatingly handsome. Did he know what one of his grins did to her? That seeing his dimples aroused her yet made her want to snuggle closer at the same time?

Excerpt (PG-13)

The chimes over the door sounded, pulling him out of his thoughts and announcing a customer, except business hours had ended an hour ago. Only one person he could think of who’d walk in: Kyle.

“If you’re back to beg me to come eat your girl’s sad attempt at dinner, you can forget it. Last time I ate the crap she made, I had the shits for days.”

A woman’s giggle answered him.

The wrench he held slipped from his hand. The clank reverberated in the garage and mixed with the click of heels. He inwardly cursed. Way to impress, jackass. Then again, he didn’t have anyone to impress. Like his older brothers, he’d worked his way through the county’s available women. He’d only accomplished the feat in half the time they had.

“Next time, try Pepto-Bismol. It works wonders.”

The woman’s heavily accented voice wrapped around him and tightened his body. He couldn’t place where she was from, but the rich cadence sounded both rough and sensual. A quick peek showed a pair of open-toed, high-heeled shoes on either side of his hips. Pink nail polish covered the nails of delicate toes he had the sudden urge to nibble on. He let his gaze travel higher. Lightly tanned skin stretched over muscled calves he wouldn’t mind licking either.

His cock thickened.

He slid the rolling platform from beneath the truck. The woman didn’t move. His chest ended up between her spread legs. He swept his gaze over her thin but shapely thighs to the frayed denim cutoffs that barely covered her ass. Right above the waistband, a small rose tattoo partially showed. The sight of it there acted as a lure. He wanted to peel her shorts off to see the rest of the design.

He forced his gaze higher before he gave in to the urge. A plaid midriff shirt was tied in a loose knot under her boobs. Her breasts matched the rest of her delicate frame, but they’d give him enough to suckle on. Or nibble on. Or hell, cushion his head when he fell asleep in her arms. Oh yeah, they were perfect.

The longer he stared, the quicker her chest rose and fell. He couldn’t stop his grin from spreading if he tried. Having a hot woman drool over him was the biggest damn turn-on a guy could get.

She placed a hand on her hip. “Do you like what you see?”

Lovers In Erotic Embrace

Excerpt (R)

She jerked her hand from his. “Where are we going?”

“Basement. Need you.” He reached for her.

She backed up. “We can’t. Your mom—”

He drew her against him. “You feel that? How hard I am?”

A soft sigh escaped her lips, his only answer.

He brushed his fingertip across them. “I ache, darling.”

She turned her head and sucked one of his fingers into her mouth. The tug connected with his balls. He wrenched his finger free and cupped her face between his hands. “I’m going to take you downstairs and fuck you, Iona. Hard and fast.” Her eyes widened. He loved the shock displayed in them. He brushed his lips over hers. “Then tonight, you’re coming home with me, and I’m going to love you real slow, until you beg me to fill you up.”

She shook her head. “No sleepovers. No commitments. I told you that. Besides, your mom is picking me up early. We’re going shopping.”

Her words danced through his head. Disappointment hit first, then excitement flared. “You didn’t say no to now.”

She swallowed hard. “I don’t know. I want you, but…”

“But what?”

She glanced in the direction of the living room. “What if somebody walks in on us? Your family will assume we’re in a relationship.”

“Nobody will catch us.” With a single finger, he turned her face toward him. “Do you trust me?”

Her cautious nod answered him.

“Good.” That was all he needed to know. He lifted her, a hand on her bottom.

“Wyn—”

He nipped her lip. “Quiet. We only have a few minutes.” He pulled the basement door shut behind them and turned the lock. “And I’m not wasting them talking.”

“You’re serious.” Her whisper matched her widened eyes.

He hurried down the stairs and dropped her bottom on the back of the sofa. “Yeah. I don’t think I’ll survive a whole day without you.”

She clutched at his shirt. “Oh.”

One word. Damn he loved how she reacted to him. He popped the button on her shorts and tugged the zipper. She lifted her bottom. No hesitation. No denial. He held her acceptance close.

“Next time, I’ll worship you. Head to toe. Eat you out. Lick your breasts. Give you everything.” Hand fisted around her waistband, he glanced at her. “You want that?”

She nodded. “Yes. I want.”

“Good, but tonight I need you. Just like this.”

Author Bio

A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

Interviewing Wade ~ K D Grace

releaseblitzbutton_wade

Pre-Order Now: Interviewing Wade by K D Grace, writing as Grace Marshall (@kd_grace)

Coming 21st March!

Interviewing WadeBlurb:

The Executive Decisions Trilogy may be over, but the story continues. Intrepid reporter, Carla Flannery, wants to interview Wade Crittenden, the secretive creative genius behind Pneuma Inc. But when, against all odds, Wade actually agrees to the interview, Carla suspects ulterior motives.

Carla has made a lot of enemies in her work and when Wade discovers she’s being stalked, he agrees to the interview to keep her close and safe. As the situation turns deadly, lives and hearts are on the line, and the interview reveals far more about both than either ever expected.

Excerpt:

Carla nodded to the chair opposite her and Wade sat down cautiously. She offered a dry smile and spoke around a mouthful of toast. ‘Chair’s not booby-trapped, food’s not poisoned. My security system’s not that good.’

When he made no reply but savoured a forkful of eggs, she joined him in devouring the feast, satisfied that after the first bite, he shovelled it in with as much relish and lack of delicate table manners as she did. With her, eating was always done in a hurry to get on with what was always way more work than she had time for, unless she was settling in for a meal with her father. She suspected he cooked for her especially for that reason. And as she watched Wade stuff half a slice of toast into his mouth in one go, she figured he was probably the same, with no one to make sure he got a good meal from time to time. Though possibly Ellis invited him over occasionally, or maybe Harris Walker and his new wife, Stacie Emerson. Apparently her culinary skills were spoken about in hush tones. Strange, but it felt good to be able to offer something to Wade, even if the idiot did show up at three in the morning

‘Good,’ he said, at last, covering his full mouth with the paper towel she’d given him in lieu of the napkins she didn’t have.

‘Thanks. You think this is good, you should see me make Pop Tarts.

‘I like Pop Tarts,’ he said.

‘The secret is,’ she leaned across the table, ‘you’ve got to get the toaster set just right. And then afterwards,’ he leaned closer with wrapped attention, ‘afterwards I put butter on ‘em and stick ‘em in the microwave until it melts.’

Wade’s eyes were huge and very green in the kitchen lighting. He looked dead serious, as though she had just given him her secret for cold fusion. ‘I never thought about melting the butter on them in the microwave,’ he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. ‘But I find that I do like mine so that the little pastry edges are just beginning to get almost too brown.’

Christ! Were they actually talking about Pop Tarts? She laughed. ‘I like ‘em almost burnt, but I know that’s a matter of personal taste. My Dad likes his just barely warm.’

He lowered his head and went back to shovelling eggs.

She popped the last of her bacon into her mouth and spoke around it. ‘So tell me, is Fort Flannery as unassailable as my father assured me, or are we in need of an upgrade?’

He drained his glass of orange juice and pushed back from the table. ‘Your father did a good job. I didn’t have to do hardly anything.’

‘He’ll be glad to hear that,’ she said. ‘Sorry you had to waste your valuable time in the wee hours. I know how busy you are.’

‘Yes, well, it was on my mind. If you’ll let me see your Android, I’ll give it a little upgrade too.’

‘Will I be able to watch Russian porn on it?’ she asked.

‘Japanese and Chinese porn as well, if you like.’ There was that quirk of a smile that she really would love to eat right off his face.

‘And I’ll assume you’ve given it a test-drive.’

To her delight, the smile didn’t disappear, even though the blush was hot on those chiselled cheeks. ‘I’m my own best guinea pig.’

‘Wade Crittenden, that borders on too much information, but in the interest of consumer protection and all, I thank you.’ The blush grew, but the smile stayed put as she offered him a salute and went into her bedroom to get the device.

She returned to find that he’d shed his hoodie and was filling the sink with soapy water, his broad back mantling the counter like a giant bird of prey. For a second her stomach bottomed at the sight of Wade Crittenden doing dishes at her sink. She stood, Android crushed to her chest, feeling flushed and slightly off-balance. His t-shirt was a loose fit, misshapen and short in the back from too many washings for something that should have migrated to the rag drawer some time ago, and when he reached across the sink to add still more soap, the shirt rode up to reveal the slim line of his back and the muscles where his hips joined his torso just above the swell of his buttocks. The baggy jeans gave enough of an intimation of that swelling to leave Carla breathless and hot enough to want to throw off her own hoodie and splash herself with the soapy water in which he was nearly elbow-deep.

As though he sensed her watching, he turned, slopped water down the front of his shirt and onto his jeans and uttered a surprised curse.

Without thinking she rushed to his side, dropping the device on the table. ‘You don’t have to do that,’ she managed, in a breathless gasp. ‘Sometimes I go for weeks without ever washing so much as a coffee cup.’ She stretched around him, grabbed for a dish towel and offered it to him instead of patting him dry herself, which was what she really wanted to do.

He reached for the towel, holding her gaze. ‘You cook for me, I do the clean-up for you. Fair’s fair.’ His hand slid into the cloth and around her fingers as he drew it to his chest. His breath caught, his lips parted as though to speak, and God help her, she couldn’t resist, she leaned into him on tippy-toe and planted a kiss firmly on his mouth. She only meant for it to be a friendly peck, a way of saying thanks for checking up on her and for doing the dishes, but his other hand, covered with soapy water, swooped in and grabbed the front of her hoodie reeling her to him. Then he curled his fingers in the tangle of her wild hair and cradled the back of her head, pulling her still further up on her toes. ‘Oh God,’ he whispered, his tongue darting deep, his lips, soft and hard and bruising all at the same time, meeting hers in a clash of wills and a heroic effort to get closer and deeper. ‘Oh God, Carla, why did you do that,’ he gasped against her mouth.

‘Just being friendly,’ she managed, before the tongue sparring got serious. He gave the towel a toss and yanked down the zipper of her hoodie, shoving it off onto the floor, his hands skimming her breasts in his efforts, thumbs lingering to rake her nipples that were already painful in their peaking. His jeans might have been loose, but they were not loose enough to disguise his erection, and he didn’t seem to care. Both hands slid to cup her bottom and he lifted her, settling her onto the kitchen table, pushing her legs apart with his knees and moving in between her thighs as she went to work on his fly.

‘I have lots of friends,’ he breathed. ‘None of them do that to me.’

‘How about this,’ she said biting his lower lip and sliding her hand down inside his boxers. ‘Do they do this?’

‘No,’ he returned the nip. ‘Never, none of them.’ For a second he faltered. ‘Carla, I –’

‘Shut up, Wade. I don’t wanna hear it.’ This time she bit his tongue before she took his hand and guided it down into her baggy sweat bottoms and into her own boxers.
